Thinking of doing something with a Revell Do-28 may be replacing the Lycoming piston with Turbo props or jet engines.
Might beef it up into a COIN aircraft or something else .
Or might just sit in front of the telly in my underpants with a beer and peanuts wondering when my true love (modelling) will ever comeback to me <sigh>.
That Revelbox kit is wonderfully Whifable.

A turbopropped Do 28 was actually done:

I'd forgotten the wonderful SALSA, thanks for reminding me Jim.
Why not put radials on it instead?

Great concept. I have a similar one on my project list - with engines from a Matchbox A-10, but also with a retractable landing gear.
Subtle: lengthen the engine pods and give it retractable undercarriage.
Less subtle: give it wing-mounted turboprops, say off a Do228.
Radical: convert it into a helicopter (the fuselage is remarkably helicopter-like when you look at it on it's own).
I would have never thought that the Do-28 would be so popular as a whifing subject, but low and behold, I'm working on a VTOL tilt wing version too!
Such a cool little plane, can't wait to see what you decide to do with it.
If you made one into a helicopter you'd have a spare set of wings, so you could get another Do 28 and turn it into a biplane by fitting the spare wing on the lower fuselage and attaching the engines and undercarriage directly to them: no struts or wires of course because the wing is fully cantilevered anyway. You could credit it to De Haviland Canada and call it a Dragon Rapide II....
Certainly still up for this but could be starting late. SWMBO has me penciled in for relaying the 'lawn' (actually it's Astroturf so the Grandkids can play football). It's become a little bumpy over the past few years so with little B..... grand kids not coming around over the weekend she wants it done. Of course the weather in the South East isn't playing fair .... good weather so no poor excuses of not laying sand in the rain. Long and short of it I will do as much of the kit as I can in as short a time as will be left but I may not be uploading any progress. I'll load it all after the cut-off or earlier if I finish earlier (fat chance).
I may upload kit details on Friday night if I get a chance.

Darnit! I'm hoping to find one to use the fuselage for a CV-10 conversion and now you're giving me ideas for the unused wings...
Not Fair! :banghead:
Ah well, there goes the last micron of sanity...

Ah, the CV-10, a lovely looking thing indeed.
One day I'll finish mine, it's only been 'in build' for 8 years......... :banghead: :banghead:

They'll be well 'matured' by now. ;D ;)
I'm afraid I'm out of the build. Managed to remove the top of my middle finger on my right hand. Nicely wrapped in a big bandage, still throbs. Makes modelling a little difficult.
Neat stuff. I OOB whiffed one in RCAF Air Div markings, a sort of lend-lease for using German airbases. Yours looks pretty wild Kit !

Ouch, that can't be good. Rest up and let it repair itself.

The build thread, such as it is, is here :- http://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php/topic,23381.msg338774.html#msg338774 (http://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php/topic,23381.msg338774.html#msg338774)
I second Kit's ouch.
That's my favourite finger. I hope yours heals nicely. How much did you take off and how did you do it?
Ooh, Oww... I hope you are better & back to modelling really soon.

Stupidity. Take one sharp blade and a sharpening stone. Settle down in glorious sunshine and bask in its glow thinking how every thing is right in the world. I have a tonne of sand delivered and on the front drive and I have cleared the garden. Now one swift swing of a blde will remove the only bush remaining in the garden. One sharp blade ... mind blissfully thinking ahead.... stone slips out of hand, fingers keep running down the blade... ouch. Ok so may be not the greatess war wound ever but the blade proved its sharpness and I lost the fleshy bit 8x5mm, perfect oval off the finger pad. Sliced it right off clean as a whistle. Probably the local foxes dinner (ok a snack) by now.
But did it bleed ? Oh yes torrents.; Didn't hurt (shock) but with in minutes a towel was sodden and I spent an hour over the bath with the hand pointing skyward waiting for the wife to comebackl from having her nails done (drool). Sympathy NIL, pain 100. Worry about me probably 1, worry over towel 100 (why did you use that towel ?)
Ho Hum.
Garden didn't get done. Model didn't get started. New life in the doghouse well and truly established.
Ouch ! Missed that part of the story sorry to hear ! Accidents do happen and as you said it's usually when we take our 'eyes off the prize' and look ahead !
Sorry to hear about your accident.
When I had a similar one long ago, the son of the friends where I was staying picked up my finger piece and offered it to the house cat.
And the cat refused ! That was quite annoying! :banghead:

My first laugh in three days ! Only problem is the chuckling vibration has set the finger off throbbing again.
Hydrogen peroxide will take the blood right out of the towel. :)
Oh not much at all then in the grand scheme of thing. I was imagining it being down to the first joint.
Don't worry, it'll grow back. Don't ask me how I know.
Bet it was a white or light coloured towel as well and not one of the black, dark blue or maroon ones.
Sorry to hear about the finger mate :o
