Title: LF: 1/72 Republic P-47 Thunderbolt U/C Legs
Post by: kitnut617 on February 28, 2017, 03:34:20 AM
Hi everyone,

I'm looking for two sets of 1/72 P-47 main U/C legs ( two right hand and two left hand) and two tail wheel legs. Preferably Airfix but any other will do as long as they are not too thin.  I can cover any costs associated with sending to Canada (or in Canada)

Cheers
Robert

The P-47B and earlier variants had an electrically operated device that shortened the leg as it retracted into the wheelbay, but later variants had a mechanical device. I'm after any from the later variants. I'm not completely rigid on the Airfix ones now, it seems Hasegawa will work just as well. I do know that the Revell P-47M legs are way too small in the leg diameter so those I don't want.

I have quite a few P-47's of different variants, it's just they're all built wheels down.

So Tamiya Razorback legs are no good?
I have one in the stash and it wouldn't hurt it to get a set of floats.

I've never built a Tamiya P-47 zenrat (or seen one for what it's worth) so I can't comment. Are they similar to the Hasegawa ones in size?

Actually I'm surprised that there's no aftermarket company doing a set, as I said above, the Revell P-47M legs are woefully undersize ---

What I'm going to use them on is for a couple of Falcon MB5's I have, the P-47 legs are the closest you can find that look like them

I don't have a Hasegawa one to make the comparison so I can't answer you.

Did some research ---

Found the reason why I've not seen a Tamiya kit of the P-47 is because it's a relatively new tool kit to all the ones I have, 2004. Considering Tamiya' reputation as good models I would assume they have got it right so I can add Tamiya to the list of possibles ---  ;)
