It is a viral disease that effects cats and dogs and is very nasty.
Also has an archaic use which Dork probably remembers to describe forms of political disorder. "an attempt to illuminate the moral roots of the modern world's distemper"
Beyond animal diseases;
Distemper generally means a "weakening" or "illness" &, in English, should be used to signify something more serious than a "malaise".
The word, literally, means "poorly/badly tempered" (as in the forging of steel).

Didn't know that and after 30 odd years in the steel industry maybe I should have ! Anyhow looking at it there it's obvious :thumbsup:

It is also a kind of paint:

At last someone that knows what I thought I knew what I was talking about.
Not necessarily a good thing.........seek help
So if I paint something with a distemper, can I put a wash on it with a malaise?

... and add dry-brushed highlights with elation? ;D
Anyway Dork, I thought you wanted to be clear: do they even make clear distemper?
Your all being very silly.......I shall flaunt off stage right and think about modelling albeit in a darkened room. ;D ;D ;D ;D
We always suspected you did your modelling in a darkened room. Has the mains grid got anywhere near Liverpool yet, or do those nice copper cables keep 'disappearing'? ;)
I really do need the family sized aloa vera :-\ :-\ :-\
I would hope one can use distemper, dattemper, or deoddertemper.
