I think Chris did one of these recently, but in desert colours.

What's the turret off?
Title: Re: no I'm not copying NARSES2, honest!

No turrets, I'm afraid, although a while ago I was considering a mash-up that involved a turret.  At the moment though if I want to get a build done within this GB's timescales I need to keep things simple.  So no turret and a kit in the 'sales' box.

Agree, had to get my references out for that, it may be a limitation of my monitor, but it looks quite close to light gull gray, perhaps FS 17875, but maybe with a hint more of gray.  Likely acrylic, sprayed.....

Ah, I think I see the problem.
You're still using the '89 printing of the FS595B...

it's the old school (1979) 1/72 tin wing Hurricane I with cannons replacing MGs.

Panel lines scribed (apart from one fuselage half), wings assembled and radiator fitted.  More at the weekend, first pics:

Cool. I sat there last night looking at my Hurri and Spit not knowing where to go with either....had ideas but not really good ones.

Panel line scribing done, cockpit interior started with some interior green.  Nothing too exciting, hence no pics.

Will be keeping things simple so next off interior-wise will be a dark gunmetal interior and a steel-coloured seat, black instrument panel and some masking tape seat belts.  Once done the fuselage halved will be joined, wing and tailplane fitted, and the undercarriage/wheel bay prepainted.

More pics at that stage.

Some progress here today too - fuselage put together and wings mated up.  Very little filling required, which is great considering the age and rather basic nature of the kit. Next session will be rubbing down - hopefully no further filling - and fitting the tailplane, undercarriage and cannon fairings.  Tyre painting will be part of the Mass Tyre Paint - one batch of the right shad applied to four or five builds.

Assembled all bar a tiny bit more filling and minor bits such as the tailwheel and aerial, which I'll attach once the final round of fillng/sanding is done:

Third of the BoBGB builds, just behind the 109 now.  Undersides painted, canopy fitted, masking in advance of painting the upper surfaces underway:

It's getting better, but what are the cannon under the wings, and where did they come from too?

It's Freightdog's Oerlikon cannon set intended for the new Airfix 1/72 Hurricane.  In real life they were trialled by 151 Sqn RAF during the BoB albeit with little success.

Ahah, thanks Dave.

I'm not sure I've seen them before, they make a nice difference from the IICs wing mounted guns or the IID's 40 mm monsters.

There were two Hurris in the SIG display just by the Comets - both used the conversion
(https://www.whatifmodellers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi240.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff90%2Fkitbasher_2007%2FSMW%25202015%2FWhat%2520If%2520SIG3_zps2acsv7bm.jpg&hash=dd79cd17719e3770b9fd6e773d6359d01ca35ebe) (http://s240.photobucket.com/user/kitbasher_2007/media/SMW%202015/What%20If%20SIG3_zps2acsv7bm.jpg.html)

And as the title of this thread implies, Brother Narses did one (http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,41156.msg700960.html#msg700960), which I think is in the SMW photo.

Different in my world  ;D Mind you my Hurricane Mk Ib has two 20mm and 4 0.303" mg's as I'm sure that's the way they would have gone. They are lovely examples of resin casting

Not much modelling time between now and Sunday.  As this is further away from completion than I'd have hoped I'm not confident it'll beat the deadline.  But I'll do my best.

Thanks chaps.

meant to add that the markings are from Kits at War sheet K7/9 'RAF Fighters'.  A well printed sheet let down by too bright blues and reds in the roundels and fin flashes.  Apart from the 32 Sqn Hurricane markings, that is.  P2921 was apparently a Gloster-built example likely to have bright blue and red used in the national markings.  Scale Aircraft Monograph #2 'The Battle for Britain - RAF May to December 1940' pages 36-37 refer; there's additional references in the text elsewhere in the book but I can't recall exactly where.
