Hi, I'd need to buy 2 sets of wingfold photoetchs, but, obviously, NOT for the aircraft they are sold for.
Can anyone help me, suggesting a correct set for the size I need?
I'd need a set for a wing chord (at the fold) of 63 mm, the other 28 mm, both 1/72 jet fighters from the fifties, with reasonably thin wing profile.

I usually don't bother with such sets. I just fill the wing gap with putty, leaving a small hole for a piece of wire and paint it silver or red. In 1/72 it works OK for most fighters.
Thanks. Yes, it's the obvous way. Problem is that I don't frequent any serious forum where I could find such info. I wanted to try and do something more finescale to better upset JMNs in case I ever finish and display a model. ;D
My F-40R(n) Curtis Seahawk uses two meal rods, each shaped as a letter L, glued to the outer wing panel and fitted into the open end of the inner part of the wing. This is simple and easy to do but looks nothing like the real thing if you look closely enough, however it all depends on how realistic you want your hinges to look.

You can take the above method a step further by making plastic card blanks for the insides on the different wing parts and then have the wire pass through specific attachment points or you can make brackets/hinges out of small pieces of plastic strip to represent the wing fold mechanism. All in all it all depends on the level or realism you wish to depict and your skill level.

I hoped to save the hassle of doing the work, using one of the many photoetch sets available, but unfortunately, the sellers sites don't give info about the length/wing chord, as the sets are thought for a specific scale-prototype-brand. :banghead:

As I said before, it all depends on the level of detail you want. My model, as posted earlier, took no time at all to produce the wing fold for and after all we are modellers, it just takes a little thought and imagination along with some work to produce our creations.
