Title: PVA type glue
Post by: chiglet on February 14, 2015, 10:15:46 AM
Was looking to buy some Gator glue, but was put off by some reviews. However, a few months ago I went into a "Craft Shop" with SWIMBO an found some glues  Last night I tried the glue out. Stick some 0.3mm hsp onto a 1/72 Kfir. Hsp is25mm long with 11 mm glued onto the wing. It is supporting the weight, and with reasonable force it wont move. Second test, smear some on a mirror. Dries clear and hard. Had to scrape it off with a new scalpel blade.
The Name?
Hi-Tack all purpose very sticky Glue
It's a bit thick, but there is a thinner version available.
It cost me £3.50 for 115 ml from Abakhan. But is readily available from sewing shops or off 'tinternet

You will find an extensive range of similar products in more manly packaging from your local hardware. There is now a bewildering range of PVA type glues for every purpose - quick drying, interior, exterior (which I assume is waterproof, the usual stuff is not), heavy duty, extra-testosterone infused etc. etc. etc.
Of course, my current favourite glue-related-thing is from a craftshop - a battery powered cordless hot glue gun. Invaluable when I am doing terrain making workshops out and about.

I have used Gator glue with no problems. Normal PVA and even some book binding glue, by Pinflair which was bought at a craft show in the SECC back in October. I think I spent more money on glue and brushes than the missus spent.
