Nowt on their website as yet
Cheers.......still nothing.....
Hey Hank, can you remember which charity was running that raffle stall that was opposite us at Crewe this year? I think it was a military one, but I can't remember if it was Help For Heroes or Royal British Legion or somebody else.....
H......if I remember correctly it was RBL......I'm that's what it said on the raffle tickets I bought........
Cheers Hank.
I'm selling the kit I won, so I want to send them a donation of more than the ticket price from the proceeds.
We've just booked the What-If stand for this show.
Sunday 22nd February 2015.
Oh cool.....many thanks......
Aha......A/L booked for the weekend.....I'll be there.....probably with Max.......
OGL.....Max is looking forward to being at the show.....he loves being a part of it and loves (at the moment) building kits....he has made a couple now and he is keen to bring them....they are real world.....at the moment....I will quite happily not display anything if there is a space issue...he has some WW2 stuff....at the moment two single engine types but is working on a twin......I want to keep his enthusiasm up as he has just turned 6......he was very proud last year at Hendon with his Spitfire and I remember he let everyone know it.....
Not a problem Hank. ;D
Knock up a little sign to point out how old the builder is and that the What if? sig is more than happy to help encourage youngsters to join in the hobby.
OGL.....many thanks.....will be done.....I'm trying to get him interested in heavily armed attack helo's....but he's got a thing about about spitfires and BoB aircraft of both sides.......

I have the same thing with my nephew. I tried steering him in one direction, buyt he has his own definate ideas about what he wants to build. His last completed was an SR71 his current the Airfix Aston Martin DB5!!!
Max has liked the SR71since he saw it in a Transformer movie.....I gotta try n get him one.....

What a sensible young lad you have ;D
I still can't get over his Spitfire at MK. He was as proud as punch and attracted his own ittle fan club of kids his own age. It was amusing to watch him go out ront and explain all to them
Wait till you see what he brings to Crewe....he is so interested in making models at the moment.....I hope he keeps it up....still early stages yet.....he really wants a Blackbird so I'll be looki g for one at Crewe..hopefully a 1/144 one....he now has his own shelf in my model cabinet.....

Chris.....thanks for that.....it may have been the Hendon show....not sure.....he had a few older chaps enthralled...he was so pleased when some took a photo of it......big thanks to OGL as he gave him pride of place in the middle of the table by the whiff sign.....right, how soon to start him whiffing......he's got a Blenheim from the VC gift set to make.....something simple for him......maybe a Bulgarian example.......or a tan with green splotches italian sqn hack.......
Any idea of numbers attending this show......? I will be bringing my tanker and thirsty little jets in 1/144.....Max has a couple of RW single engine in 1/72 and a couple of Whiffs in same scale......I'll gladly hold some of my plastic back to get his plastic on the table.....I gotta keep his enthusiasm going, he was so proud with one displayed at Hendon show last year....a few on the table will be good for him I'm sure........
Anyone going......or is it the usual suspects for this show, OGL Weaver an me......with Max this year.......
seems very likely to be that way hank.
Well I'll certainly be there - better bring the whole inventory to make sure the table's full eh?
Got your stuff from Thorvic by the way Hank.
to right Harold.
Ill make sure I have plenty with me as well.
Weaver.....cheers..... Martin.......I've got 5x 1/72 kits from Max.....
sounds good to me
There's an outside chance I might make it that far North. I need to check my visas etc............ ;D

It's a good show - you'd enjoy it.
So I've heard, it's only the prospect of the 120 odd miles between here and there that puts me off, plus the prospect of the M5-M6 jct in the middle of the trip. :banghead:

What time do we need to get there by please? And should I bring any models in particular, or just a general cross section?
I get there for about 08.30......we drove up the M6 and it had a 50 mph limit around J11 and the at J16 on the M6 for Crewe the A500 into Crewe was closed for roadworks.....we had to go a roundabout route.....if you need directions I'll send them.....dunno if the motorway works are a nightime thing or not......we were going through it at 23.00hrs last night.......

Thanks for that Hank, I'll be heading up around 6.30 am in that case so the traffic shouldn't be too bad. My GPS has a route already loaded and as it happens I know the parking place already, I used it a lot when I was installing the Rolls Royce (now Bentley of course) road simulator 20 or so years ago.

Hehehe, I did the one at Rolls' current Goodwood plant too, but as I installed at least one at EVERY car manufacturer's in the country it was nothing special really.
Be nice to see you Kit - bring whatever models you feel like: as far as I know, there's no theme to the stand.
Bags of scope then. ;D
Thanks.
OGL n Weaver....what time you intending on getting there....? Any idea as to where the table is....not opposite the raffle table I hope......
I'm hoping to be thee around 8-8.30 ish. And no idea where we are located.
How many tables have we got? Enough to take my 777-900?

Ah.....received......
Kit, no idea how many we are getting. I ask for 4 (12ft double) but last year they had us double booked with another club (thanks to the left hand not talking to the right hand on the show management) we ended up by the entrance. Great for foot fall but Hanks wallet took a hammering on the British Legion tombola next door

Same and same. Note the conditionality of the word "hope" however...... (me and early mornings... )
OK, thanks.
I'll bring the 777 and leave it in its 'carriage support' in the car until I see how much room we have.
Result! We are in the main hall with the full four tables.
hope you guys are having a good time on the Cheshire plains.
looking forward to hearing how its all gone. ;D
It went very well indeed, until right at the end...(I'll let Martin tell that one....)
Everybody brought a lot of models, we had plenty of space for them, and there was loads of freindly interest. Max's models went down very well, and he even put his Hurricane in the competition. The show had plenty of stalls and club tables and wasn't too crowded, so you could see some of the truly excellent models on display.
emm yes. The model I had only finished last night and what was the center piece of the display was dropped and damaged by yours truly as we dismantled the display. Thankfully with the combined efforts of myself, weaver and Kit we found all the bits.
Ive already repaired it, but it does need some paint retouching were the repairs have taken place.
Photo of said model below. (before I dropped it!)

I've only just got home. :banghead:
I got a flat heading down the M5 and the car went sideways at around 65 mph :o luckily right by the entrance slip road to Strensham Services, so I slid up the road, righted the car and skidded into the parking lot, much to the amazement of the watching Joe and Jane Publics. ;D
There was a ruddy great lump of sheet metal swarf stuck in the left rear tyre, and as my car doesn't have a spare (the LPG tank is in the space used by a normal spare) I called the RAC and went to have a munch while he came to rescue me. Amazingly he reckoned that if we yanked out the swarf my puncture repair kit (supplied with the car in place of the spare) would get me home, and it did too! The tyre's probably toast so I'll see about a new one tomorrow.
But the show was great, first time I've been there, and as OGL says there were only five of us, and that included Max. ;D I thought we put on a quality show between us, and there was LOTS of interest, and very few, if any, JMNs!
I'll post my pics later tonight, watch this space.
Bloody Hell Kit! Glad you're okay! Are you sure the skid wasn't made worse by the weight of the 777? ;)
I should get a little camera: I can't be bothered lugging my DSLR to shows and I havn't got a suitable lens anyway.
Don't know if everybody heard, but there was a guy shooting video who said that it'll be going up on youttube mid-week: I'll keep an eye out for it.
Long drive home was initially boring but made interesting by the weather conditions......I have to say a massive thank you to OGL, Weaver and Kit for making Max so welcome and the encouragement he recieved from them during the day. Thank you. I only took a few pics......Max apparently got a good deal on an Airfix 1/72 Sea Knight....up for £4 but he paid £3.... from I think Collectakit....? I'm sure Kit will correct me if wrong.....he had a chuckle when we told him about it.....
I only took a few photo's and will post them after I've helped SWMBO'D unpack the car.......

Kit......thanks for posting the pic of my little fleet.....and of Max's......he kept wanting to go up to the competition area to see his hurricane on display........
I found a couple of other pics in my pocket camera. There were very few other Whiffs at the show, just this rather nice Korean War FAA Bearcat and an very well done MPA Airbus A319 that proved impossible to photograph as it was below other stuff on a 3 layer stand.
