Because of a bash on the Saturday I will probably be travelling down "sans" hangover from Derby on the Sunday morning for this. Trains look reasonable

What's the best way to pack your builds during transit to and from Hendon,as this will be my first show to exhibit ?
I'll be asking loads of questions.

A box with a sheet of styrofoam on the bottom. Place the model on the styrofoam, then place toothpicks or similar around the model to stop it moving around.

That is probably the most common method I see.....I use stout boxes with loose foam packing or torn up bubble wrap......works for me......not had a breakage yet but then I am still careful in transit.........

I use lots of tissue paper, mainly big pieces of kitchen roll. Less messy than foam bubbles with the benefit that any bits that fall off like missiles will end up in the bottom of the box as you shake out the paper.

Everyone has their own method, experiment till you are happy!

I hope to be at this show.

Is there an entrance fee or admin charge? Who do I need to register with?

All you need to do is turn up. If driving you will need change for the car park (£3 last I heard) unless they put exhibitors like you and me across the road in the college carpark to make space for regular visitors.

Well I plan to go.

Also silly question, can anyone submit a model for this forums stand at shows - not that I have any at the moment.

Not sure but as long as a member I think you can display a couple of Whiff's depending on table space.....I'm sure OGL will be along to clarify....

The UK show displays are not forum events, but are run for and by the IPMS (UK) what if? special interest group (SIG). The sig and Forum are two separate enterties. The sig just happens (with supertoms agreement) to inhabit/infest this site (delete as you see fit ;D ).

How ever we (the sig) are more than happy for forum members who are not IPMS or sig members to join in so long as they understand that we do sometimes have to impose limits on how many models a participant can have on the stand at any one time, due to space considerations.

It also means that scale model world wont be free to enter or open to non ipms members at those times set by the organizers as IPMS members only times, Namely the friday afternoon and before 10am on the showdays. Thats our main perk as paid up IPMS members.

According to IPMS rules, membership of the sig should only be open to paid up IPMS members. Its a rule that I (as the SIG leader) quite openly ignore. And to be honest the national exsec committee ordinarily turn a blind eye to such flagrant breaches of that rule. So long as the SIG continues to meets the minimum requirements to function as an a special interest group with in the IPMS.

If only that were the case LOL. ITs more like I was the only one foolish enough to put my hand up when Terry asked for some one to take over from him.

OK,  so the Pope sends out "Bulls",   The Archbishop of Canterbury has a "Great Seal"  and the list of Anglican church property is recorded on a "Terrier".   Do I detect a theme here?

Boring didactic mode on.......For the terminally inquisitive, bulla  in Latin means a seal,  and a terrier records land holdings, or terroir  in Norman French.   That concludes today's boring bit!........ Didactic pedantry disengaged.

Ohh so whens our show then ?  ;D

***Just to be clear most UK model shows are run by the local model club hosting the show, or occasioanlly the venue hosts a show normally with the help of their local club (FAA Yeovilton, RAF Museum Cosford, RAF Museum Hendon, Coventry Air Musuem). Other model clubs and/or special interest groups are invited to attend the shows along with traders who will pay for their space to create the show. The only actual IPMS(UK) show is Scale Model World held each November at telford which is our 2 day national show and often the ultimate show in our calendar.***
