Title: TFX Designs

The Boeing design was favoured by the Air Force as it was thought to have better potential to be turned into a real bomber.

Picture from Elider again...

Interesting... A kind of twin-fin F-111 with 2 dorsal intakes - a rare feature. Reminding well known silhouettes while being a very new shape all at once... Thanks.

I'd love to see the wind tunnel data on that one, especially for the tail area.  Some of those features greatly resemble features that added considerable drag to the GD design.

nice...looks like it ties in with those mockup pics seen over on key...hmmm i wonder if any drawings have surfaced of the tandem variant???

happy TFX'ing, cheers, joe

ps...if theres anything out there love to see more, eg drawings or images of the Republic, Grumman and NA. SOR.183/TFX entries??? the only sources iv seen on those so far are the Aero publication volume on the F.111 (various TFX. entries) and the Ian Alan, modern combat series one again on F.111 (this has some Boeing material)

pps...iv found reference that the Lockheed company, as well as submitting their own design to SOR.183, also proposed the British BAC. TSR.2 to this specification! Approaches were also unsucessfully made to Boeing by BAC. for the same but rejected!
