Title: Halfords' cammo and art paints
Post by: Weaver on August 30, 2013, 08:12:31 PM
Went in a Halfords today for the first time in a long time and noticed that they had some interesting paints in. Does anybody have any experience of these?

Cammo Paints (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd?srch=camouflage&action=search&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=-1) - Black, Brown, khaki, Green, all matt.

Enamel Paints (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd?srch=enamel&action=search&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=-1#refinementURL=http%3A//www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd%3FcatalogId%3D10151%26action%3Dlistrefine%26action%3Dlistrefine%26isRefine%3DY%26categoryId%3D-1%26langId%3D-1%26storeId%3D10001%26qcon%3Dfh_location%3D%252F%252Fcatalog_10151%252Fen_GB%252F%2524s%253Denamel%252Fattr_dd0a556a%253E%257Bav_c614ca51%257D%26fh_refpath%3Dfacet_34%26fh_refview%3Dsearch%26fh_reffacet%3Dattr_dd0a556a%26channel%3Ddesktop%26fh_sort_by%3D%26fh_view_size%3D10%26mode%3Dlist%26reqType%3DproductsAjax) wide range of mostly bright colours.

ArtFX Acrylics (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd?srch=artfx&action=search&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=-1) 10 bright matt colours with a special nozzle designed for art use.

Interesting, wonder how the camo paints match BS or FS colours ? Could be handy for armour builders if close enough match

the cammo cans are very very matt, I used the green over standard white primer on some wargames figs, id say a dead matt finish ( id ask my friend who used to work in paint qc how matt/gloss but he tends to rant if im not careful)

Yup but a lot of it is very dark grey. Probably find no 2 manufacturers "black" are the same, if you use them on adjoining parts it's amazing the difference sometimes

hmm im wondering if the cammo range is aimed at the ex military vehicle scene as much as modelers. Would certainly be handy for small "touch up" jobs on 1/1 scale wagons.

Martin, I think its is, as I mentioned it is almost too matt to use on wargames figs, and it sucks the gloss out of anything else that's added ( ink washes, dry brushing, metallics)
