Title: PL-123 TrukAir
Post by: Tophe on January 12, 2013, 05:29:47 AM
I am going to build the Transavia PL-12 Airtruk (Sharkit 1/72) as a triplane, asymmetric (with one boom shorter than the other) and with a streamlined pod. This is just fun, far better could be done than what I will do.

doing it just "as is" would already be strange-looking, but the announced program sounds amazing!
let's see what it will give

Thope, you chose a bizarre aircraft to start with, and plan to "better" it  :banghead:  ;D
What kind of alcoholic drink would you suggest as appropriate to have at hand when you'll show your creation?

You know, my skills are very low. I am just having fun with bizarre transformation, tried in a physical way, not only drawing.

Way Kool , model !!!!!!   Didn't a bi-plain version feature in one of the "Mad Max" movies ?  I remember that wierd cockpit/body and the twin tails. I have always thought it was a very interesting design. Where does one find this little beauty ???

It seems the boxart comes from MadMax movie...

I got it there:

my skills are a bit limited too, especially in the range of colours
sometimes I think that better-skilled modellers could take up some of our ideas, and make impeccable models of them.

The thing doesn't even look like it would fly...probably fly better after the Tophe treatment ! Would look cool in mad max colours as well.

Thank you all.
Here is the project a little advanced (truncated main wing, sharp nose from a Junkers EF-112, discarded undercarriage for in-flight aspect):

As I am not a good-enough modeller, able to handle properly the (included) thermoformed canopies, I have filled the windows with putty, and I will draw freely black windows with a pen. The first sanding is done but PSR is required:

The asymmetry of the booms (as the triplane layout reducing span) is justified by the very little room remaining on my bookshelves...

bravo indeed!

innovative, assymetric, and with booms : totally typical!

the grey color has a neutrality that makes the shapes stand out, but is a bit dull : I would also vote for yellow  ;)

Just part of the asymmetry, because the port boom starts drom the middle wing and the starboard boom starts from the high wing...

Ericr, special thanks for the P-38-egg-box view that may be enough for me to draw, I will see. <_<
I may draw your own float-egg (beautiful  ), celebrating your build, the nose seems different from the profile too.
By the way, why is your account on Photobucket called ericr63: are you born in 1963 like me? ;D (no need to answer)

I still remember my surprise when I first saw your drawings; I think I was looking for info about the flying boat version of the Gotha 242... (of which I made an approximate model with what I knew) (... in yellow ... :-? )

I am proud to contribute to your gallery! maybe i could try to build some of the variants one day.

An egg-Droop would be beautiful, but it is a bit beyond my basic modelling skills : making the nose-bubble wouldn't be easy ...
(or maybe it can be done in painting, the way you do?)

Far from my crazy what-if delirium, a serious Airtruk could of course be built with this nice kit. See http://renax-sharkit.blogspot.fr/2012/10/airtruk-au-72-le-montage-fini-par-phil.html . Or a Mad Max half-serious sci-fi version, see http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationsmovie/madmax/pl_12_airtruk.html .

Actually I still have a few more variants ...

what about this one? (a ceramic, found on ebay ...)

or that one, the "nearly normal" floatplane, in blue
(https://www.whatifmodellers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1274.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fy435%2Fericr63%2Fhyd%2Fp38-s_zps40955c1b.jpg&hash=68af420474052c44699154115a5c8404ac0d5832)

or this, a bit more peculiar, which I made with the remnants of the triple p-38 : I must say I like it a lot, it looks like a ballet dancer, a "ballerine", on its single leg ...
(https://www.whatifmodellers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1274.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fy435%2Fericr63%2Fhyd%2FP3030072s_zps63122a3d.jpg&hash=e70587343f72145f43afd9871d2997eba3e89bfe)
