I gave up waiting for better weather conditions to get pics of this model so these dark and gloomy pictures will have to do. :-\
This is the Hasegawa/Revell 1/32 scale Fw 190D-9 and was painted and marked as an aircraft used by KG(j)55 in 1945, KG(j)55 was a real unit but never did get more than a handful of aircraft(Bf 109s) before the war ended and its certain they never used any Doras which makes my model a true what-if. Sharp eyed readers will notice the big Ta 152 tail fitted to this aircraft as well as the fictitious W.Nr. of 602044, Fieseler was one of the main builders of the Dora and they built Doras in the 600 block W.Nr. but the war ended before they came close to 602044. I chose that number for my what-if Dora to represent what might have happened if Fieseler had not been stopped from producing Dora airframes as early as they did.

Aside from the KG(j)55 markings the model was painted in standard Fieseler factory Fw 190D-9 camouflage, the wings have slightly different colors because they were built by a seperate contractor and the paint colors often did not match the rest of the airframe.

Even though this is a what-if I wanted the weathering to look as realistic as possible so I studied as many photographs as I could to give this model the look of an Eastern Front based Fw 190D-9.
Later I will post pics of this model at other sites...and might forget to mention this is a what-if. :wacko:

I don't mind if some of the pics were taken on a dark overcast day as they don't look that bad, but when I convert the darker images to b/w and try to age them they are not very good. I have had the best success with those type of images when they were taken in sunlight.

I got that kit made up, used an air rush n all sorts of other stuff on it....metal tube for barrels...thin fishing line for arial......made it a long time ago n thought it was good....then I see this....back in the loft it goes....

I spent more time than usual on weathering this model, to make a successful what-if I think adding some RW weathering is really important. Some what-ifs (like Luft'46 jets for example) its not as easy to weather them because the airframes would have been well cared for compared to the prop planes, but with my what-if Dora there were many good examples to be seen of RW war weary aircraft and I tried to copy what I have seen in the photographs.
