Title: Hawker Cyclone
Post by: ysi_maniac on June 18, 2012, 11:52:54 AM
(https://www.whatifmodellers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1080.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fj340%2Fysi_maniac%2FDrawing%2FHawker_Cyclone.jpg&hash=578eba511b534d53a2f0d4409e483601a5fcb074)

I plan to reproduce this design in Styrene-3D. But first I would like you to comment/critique and help me to define some points:

Name: Is Cyclone OK?

Power plant:  Wright Tornado. How can be, in your opinion, exhaust pipe scheme?

Cyclone sounds good, very Hawker and I don't think it's a name they used for real either.

Looks like a more primitive Hawker P.1027.

The two turbo chargers need to go behind the engine, so I suppose there needs to be two exhausts somewhere behind the engine.

Only 2 or more: 6 or 7?

If I understood the engine description correctly in Wikipedia and a couple of other sites, it has two turbochargers. I believe it means that exhausts from all cylinders go to the turbos and there's one pipe coming out of each. I didn't find a picture that actually shows the turbos, though.

Postman apprehended!  Still need to go through my box of Spitfire kits to see if I can release an old Airfix Mk Ia into the wild for The Plan.
