HMAS Albatross was a bit of a white elephant as a Seaplane carrier

However she was built in 1921
She was designed and built to Admiralty specifications. She had steam turbines, a top speed of at least 21 knots, had damage control systems, fire-fighting systems and had a spacious aircraft hangar

She was longer and wider  than HMS Audacity and had been given to the Admiralty in part exchange for HMAS Hobart so it wasn't as if they had any planned use for her.

So could she have been converted to an Escort Carrier
