Ooops, I'd forgotten that! :o
Now in my organiser and a mortgage arranged for the fuel to get there........
I'm there too as part (or all) of IPMS Stafford.....expect daftness and wild lunacy.
But I'm out partying and boogying the previous too nights so I might...possibly....be quieter.....wouldn't "bank" on it though. This year I do MORE shows, MORE parties, MORE gigs, etc.....beat the Recession ;D ;D
I'd like to come out to play that day, please!
I'll be there as well. Got one new one finished and hopefully there'll be a second one as well.
Should be there as long as the trains are running
daresay me and richard will be there too.
and if i can get my finger out and do some decalling, will have several new whifs to show.
Just received confirmation for Stafford of 4 tables upstairs. Yippee!!!

If trouble's threatened closer to the day and you can still get to the Uxbridge/Heathrow area I'll give you a lift, Chris.
I'm hoping to get to this one, haven't missed it in years. If I get a new car this month I can drive, otherwise I'll have to get a train up from Euston.

If you have to and trains are ok Nick I'll meet you there
Thanks Chris, that could be the plan in the end. I checked the route online and there's no planned engineering works that day. Return ticket is only £14.50.

OK Nick. I'll be intouch nearer the date.
I know you are savy re the trains etc but some of the advance tickets restrict you to a particular company. I normally get the cheapest advance "any company" ticket. Saves hanging around on a snowy (the last 2 years ) MK station
Chris
Wibbly wobbly woo.
Be very afraid - be very very afraid. I have returned. For the first time in several years, due to the fact I am once again employed, I will be there. And who knows, i might even get to collect my Huntsman from Martin H after its long sojurn away.

It's probably been converted into something that bears no resemblance whatsoever to a Huntsman by now. ;D
it has been well cared for, and has flown the huntsman flag well in the last two years.
Woohoo.....!!! Looks like I'll be going to this......
no need to get that excited Hank lol
Be good to see you there thou.
Looking forward to it now....virtually 100% going now.....ooh...what models to take....?? Had a request for the P-38 AVG effort...could bring the Israeli close support trio.....
OGL, is the table (or the door.... ;D) large enough to be worth me bringing the 777-900?
Oooohh......I'd like to see that...... :o
I think the table will be able to take it Kit LOL
To start with Im putting in a three model per member limit, once we have got the stand set up we can tweak the numbers upwards if possible.
Best not bring my Wellington/Hurricane Mistel 'cos that's 2 kits ;) and I don't think I could get away with lying though my back teeth again when explaining that the Germans copied the idea off the Brits!
Thinking of bringing my Timewarp SE5a, RAF Vixen (last time out before it becomes a real world Sea Vixen) and maybe my Ju53 if you're up for having put next to your Trikota, Martin? Still think you should paint that up in Luftwaffe colours and flog it off as a Ju352!
Alternatively I could bring my real world 'Barclay Scheme' Devastator to confuse.
See you there!

That bloke is still probably trying to convice his friends about that. Me and Martin nearly wet ourselves  ;D
yeah, that was a master class in how to screw with a punters mind. Total class.
Any idea where the SIG stand might be on Sunday Martin old chap?
;D ;D
It seems we are in the main hall. At least that what the the last email I had from the show manager said.
Is that the same area we were in last year Martin, or the one at the back where we were the year before?
nope, the downstairs hall in the main building...........at least thats what the blurb says.
it means space behind the stand is likely to be rather cosy.
No fat boys then!!!
My car's had to go to have some work done on it but hopefully will be released back into the wild on Saturday. Will keep you posted should plans have to change. Also the southeast may grind to the customary halt if the threatened 1 mm of snow materialises! I know - Southern Jessies v Northern Monkeys time! ;D ;D

That's what I watching as well. The reailway system may well collapse early Sunday morning if we have any snow which will scupper me :banghead: I'll keep you posted.
Chris
IPMS Stafford are on the First Floor so will be waving to you all. I'm aiming to delve deeply into the distant corners of the loft to retrieve some oldies to see if they still exist.....
RAF "Reliant" Tornado....the FSW wing/Fin version......
and the Blue Thunder RAF version...
Might be more too.....I'll keep them on the Stafford stand to pollute those upstairs :drink: :drink:

Car's back. And as mentioned in an earlier post Chris, if the trains arestymied and you and Nick need lifts to/from MK and you can get to Uxbridge/West Drayton/West Ruislip or even Heathrow Central on Sunday morning then I'll give you a lift.
Thanks for the offer but it will be the train up to Victoria that will be the problem if we get anything like even moderate snow.
I see they've started practising this morning. Freight train derailled at Bletchley an dthe entire lines closed :banghead:
I heard that on the news this morning too. :banghead:
I was trying to think about deversion routes, Paddington to Brum via Banbury and then to MK from the north?
kit!
if you find it, i'd still like that dragon kit with the E-377 if you find it for sunday.
trevor
oh, btw, bletchley to oxford has been shut for some years,

I have it to hand Trevor, no probs.
Yes, I KNOW the Oxford-Bletchley line has been closed, I used to live in Oxford and I worked for BR for a time.
But they're going to re-open it and I did suggest going via Brum............. ;)

It would be easier to go from st Pancras to Bedford then either get a bus or switch to the Bedford-Bletchly line and then Bus it to the venue.

Paddington to West Drayton and then a lift off me if you want. PM tomorrow if you think you need one.
;D ;D
Well the track is open but the service "is subject to alteration" and from experience I know what that can mean :banghead:
Seriously it's the weather that may be the killer. We are thrreatened with 3" to 5" tonight and if we get it then there won't be any real chance of getting there.
I'll take a rain (snow) check in the morning but it's begining to look like I'll see people at Huddersfield
Chris
Snow?
WE've a bit,but I'm out at a gig tonight...no probs.
Tomorrow might be fun if there's anything significant, but it's mostly motorwar and dualcarriageway for me so fingers, legs and eyes crossed, eh?
I'm 2/3 of the way there already, laden with shovels, brooms, snow boots and wellies. You never know.........
Due to snow, I'll probably give tomorrow a miss...for the second year running, sadly
Van
Going to "pass" on the gig tonight, but I have my stuff ready for tomorrow.....and I'm bringing my superviser along too.

just as well your wagon is the size of a reasonably sized van.
Snow in crawley so dunno what's going to happen in the am......
http://www.mksmc.co.uk/modelkraft/modelkraft_gen.html says 'the show will go on'. Updates on Britmodeller at http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=234910297&pid=957986&st=80&#entry957986 suggest a go/no go notice might be posted up later this evening - only scanned the thread so could be wrong.
:-\ :-\
still nothing new to report, bar the 3 inches of snow out side my front door. And im not that far from the venue...................At the mo im still looking at going, or at least attempting it.
My plan is still to go but subject to the weather. Latest from Britmodeller is that a go/no go call is likely very early in the morning (6-7 a.m.) :-\ :-\
So far nothing update wise from the host club, They seem to be praying that the snow turns to rain. Yeapread the same thing on BM Dave. personally I think they are leaving it a tad late to make the call, as those attempting to get there will already be onroute
GOing to have to pass for this year as well and I'm really pi$$ed about it, but no transport and no bloody money. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
considering the current weather, I would say you have made the right call lance.
As for every one else, dont take any unnecessary risks tomorrow. Its only a model show after all.
The show manager has said on the ipms forum that the show is carrying on as planned. the roads in the MK area are passable with extreme care.
Im going to at least try and get there. But to those with further to travel, dont break your necks trying to get there if your area is in a worse state than here.
I will be coming along but with care. Fortunately my route is mostly the A414 and M1 so the roads should be clear, according to Traffic England website. Hope to see you later!
Well, there's about 4 inches of snow where I am. My street is a narrow one, not gritted/ploughed and pretty full with parked cars not going anywhere. Looks like a lane and a half cleared on the local bit of the M25, with the M1 looking better with both very empty but wet. Dunno what the outside air temperature is but I think local roads will be a b*gger if it doesn't get above zero. Could be OK going but there's the getting back - especially as the temperature will drop in the evening (forecast to stay 0 degrees round here all day in fact). So it is with a heavy heart that I've decided not to go - see you at (hopefully snow free) Cosford. :(
Sorry to say I have been beaten by the weather.....I will hopefully be at the Crewe show....hope those that go today enjoy it......H
Woke up to 4"-6" of snow (I live in the Crystal Palace "Alps") and the local train service to Victoria is just about running with severe delays. So I went back to bed. Sorry lads but a one mile walk and then hanging around waiting for a train wasn't on. Didn't even check the Euston - Mk leg :-\
See you at Huddersfield or Cosford - should be at both
Chris
SNOW.F£$&%*(& ....F&*^%$*& Snow!!
&^%$%$*.....$%£&^%&....
Not coming.
And just heard my mam's on the way to hospital, and it's not looking good.

This show is normally buzzing and very busy. But due to snow fall the night before, it was rather subdued this year. A number of traders and quite a few clubs and SIG's canceled or failed to show due to the weather. This had a positive effect for us. As the display due to be next to us failed to appear. So with the show manager's agreement we annexed the vacant space. Our display grew from 3 tables on a corner to 6 tables. total display frontage was 18 feet double depth. By far the largest club/SIG display in the main hall.
Thanks to the following people.
Kit Spackman (PR-19Kit)
Trevor Williams (Howard of Effingham)
Richard Brooker
Nick Pedley (Nick P)
Mike McEvoy
And special mention for Gordon Miller (McGraig) for perseverance. He finally arrived at the venue about an hour and a half before the show closed. After being stuck in traffic on the M-1 (tail back, caused by an RTA further along the moterway).
Well done all who made it.
I had thought of going, but it is a little bit far, and the weather here (in SW Scotland) was SO nice.
Temp +8C and periods of blue skies with nothing white to be seen except the rattle can of white primer
Jim
Yes, well done you hardy heroes. Looks like a good display!
See you all at Cosford - hopefully sans snow.
;D ;D
Well done those who made, glad it was a good day. 200 mile roundtrip with snow all the way a bit too much for me, and my mate Jon who helps has to travel up from Gosport (so far away in fact it wasn't bloody snowing there!). Huddersfield in two weeks for us next, and were going up the night before so I won't miss that one!
Colin
Thanks for the messages, guys.
She's staying in hospital, took 7 hours to get her admitted (pretty normal with the NHS not having enough frontline staff) and she's stable.
More news tomorrow.
I was building and planning/thinking about my post-apocalyptic DB.9.....it'll be done for Hudders.
Glad to hear she's stable Rad, fingers crossed for her.
Snow here was about 3 inches and slushy as hell, here's hoping it doesn't freeze tonight or it'll be a skating rink in the morning.
Well done to all who actually got to MK today, and glad it was a decent show. I guess my next one will be Barnet in May; unless I'm really lucky befiore hand..
