This is the classic tripod from Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds rock opera, the discs to which I found earlier this week, and inspired me to build this. It's mostly paper, but the eyes were made using some plastic packaging.

Photo from the Alabama Archives in Montgomery, taken following the end of the invasion. This particular machine was later reverse engineered and evaluated by the US Army. The research done on these fighting machines later proved invaluable during the second invasion in 1976. ( ;) )

Hi Atlantis:
The moment I saw your Ooo Laaaa!!! I knew what was coming. ;D One of my all time favourite rock-opera albums.
Did the coffee maker survive?
Now you need to build the "Thunder Child".

I'm planning to do the Thunderchild, but not the traditional one, either the B-49C (my designation) from the '53 film, or a B-17 from the 1938 Orson Welles radio broadcast. Or, I may do all three.
Very nice!! :o
