Title: Collosus/Majestic Class in 1/700
Post by: Thorvic on May 07, 2011, 02:43:00 AM
Just a heads up that an Australian modeller has created a family of the RAN versions of this class in resin in 1/700 scale.

Currently being sold on eBay and are of limited production. These are modellers kits as they are the basic hull and Island, fittings, masts and airgroups will need to come fromaftermarket sources, however unlike the existing resin Collosus kits these are hollow hulled and also cover the Majestic class. Thought it might be a heads up for those ship modellers with an interest in the RAN Carriers or would use them as a basis for the Royal Navy ones, or maybe the Canadian Bonaventure, Magnificent & Warrior, or possibly the Argentine 25th De Mayo, Indian Vikrant or Brazilian Minas Gerais.

Well the Le'Arsenal version with a solid hull, but Photoetch, aircraft and fittings runs at about £100+, and the HP models Arromanche is €140  so for resin ships they are not that bad fro what you get. You can always wait in the forlon hope of an injected moulded kit but as its not a IJN WW2 carrier then their ain't much chance of that ever happening...

OK, point taken. Obviously ships are like Lingerie, the smaller the piece, the most expensive it is.
