Title: Super Sair
Post by: Eddie M. on March 14, 2010, 05:54:19 PM
These two models, an A-7 and F/A-18E were gifts from Sotoolslinger sometime ago. I had started a bash with them, but it didn't go anywhere and they have languished since then. Today, I got the inspiration to move forward. I can't claim any originality on this one because I think I've seen something similar before. Here's the beginning of the Super Sair. ;D

Oh that's promising: I'll be watching this one (possibly with an eye to nicking it in 1/72nd for Patchwork World... ;))

I almost wish you had kept the fuselage strakes on the forward section of the F-18 fuselage section.  Looking interesting so far.  Never imagined a kit bash between the two aircraft types would work but I think you are showing that it can be done.

I'll be adding them later. I didn't want to let the whole cat out of the bag. ;D

You're making me blush....I did surprise myself in putting this together in about 3 hours, though not intentionally. When motivation comes calling, I answer...

I couldn't have done it without you and your generosity my friend!

I did a little surgery to the wing so that it would look a bit more in proportion to the fuselage.

Thank you Gents!! I appreciate it.

I've opened the aft end a bit for a few mods to come. Nevermind the thing in the background. It's....forming.;D

You are such a tease!

Looks like you are gong to be adding a much larger engine exhaust to this thing.  Kind of expected that and was wondering how you were going to approach the problem.

After discovering a near fatal flaw in the construction, I decided to finish it and hide the boo-boo in the photography, as per usual. ;D

I made a new FLIR mount out of a piece of square plastic stock and got the gear on. lots of tweaking to do to get this one right....

Thanks Sisko, but I'm guilty of being plain lazy. I've been working on my Serious Week Build (which I missed) and after I did some research on A-7 schemes, I figured I'd go with something like this.......

Thank you very much. I am humbled by your kind words.

Still moving forward. It's fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, but I'll finish it anyway. I think I'll call it the FUSS... ;D

Y'know in theory that high wing should have more anhedral, but it actually looks very good in the plastic. Kind of reminds me of the SR.53 for reasons I can't rationally explain....

It looks sharp and eager to do damage.  Love this kind of Whiffery...magic.  Just when you've seen 99% of everything which actually flew, a What If modeler can produce an entirely new treat for the eyes.  Great!

Oh, and the Tomcat looks freakin' awesome in those markings.

He's right, you ARE the Master.
