Here's my latest alternative SEAC build just before Christmas.
In 1945 as the RAF moved more fully onto the offensive in the Far East they found there was a need for a long range fighter that could operate over the Japanese bases in Siam and occupied Indo-China.
Subsequently a number of P-38 Lightnings were obtained by Lend-Lease from the US Airforce in order to equip a number of former Spitfire squadrons until the promised Hawker Tempest and DH Hornets became available later in the year.
This is one of these Lightnings flown by 607 Squadron from bases in Burma against those IJA Squadrons based in Thailand
It's the old Hasegawa kit, finished mainly with Xtracrylics and markings from the spares box.
Oh well done.......great looking paint scheme there, love it
 Drop-dead gorgeous!
Very nice Chris,
I really like the P-38, and their timeless design suits that camo scheme you gave them.
Cheers,
Chris.
Simply smashing, Narses! Outstanding work on the SEAC colors! Bravo!

Brian da Basher
the SEAC scheme suits the old twin boomer :)
Looks really good in those colours.
Simply stunning work on that one.
That looks like one of your best, Chris, although I would have left-off the white tail bands.... But that's just me. Well done, sir

I know what you mean Ian - got carried away a bit :banghead:
I had a few problems with this kit - plastic was a bit brittle (it's an old kit) and I mangaged to seriously crack one of the nacelles. Nearly hit the wall at that point, glad I perservered.
Thanks for the thumbs ups gents.
Chris
very nice Chris, another one to cross off my list!
Yep, that's a looker - nice one!
I can see why you wanted to do the tail bands Chris, but gotta agree with Ian on this one. Like you say, ideal really for the far east. You've already done a desert one haven't you?
Beautiful work!

Suprisingly no - I've done a DAF P-39, but hadn't thought of a DAF P-38 - maybe for strike operations over Corsica and Sardinia ? I can see where that would fit in to my Alt WWII scenario prior to the desert Hornet

I really must get round to doing my own take on the Lightning, with Griffon engines.
You know Duncan,
that idea I realy like
What are you waiting for!
Jim
Nice one Chris, that SEAC scheme suits the P-38 a treat.
It's surprising quite how often one tends to forget the umpteen different types that sported the SEAC scheme, not to mention the ones that didn't......... -_-
Wow

Well it would Trev but my SEAC forces use PR Spits and Mosquito's. Most of the Mossies were withdrawn until the airframe problems caused by the climate were sorted, but the PR birds stayed.
The Mossies were replaced in the light bomber role by B-26's. One of which will hit these pages soon ;D
Very nice indeedy!
Happy new year Chris

Every time I see a P-38 I want to go build one ! Great idea on this one Chris. Love the colours on it.

While the Capt is on his nostalgia trip ;D This model is now actually in the works ..... 6 years latter :banghead:
That's art following real world. There's an article in one of the Aircraft magazines about the P-38 in RAF colours. I'll try and dig it out with more info.
They did "have" one or two early ones for trials. No supercharger though if memory serves
Good on ya Chris !
 :drink: :tornado:
