Title: Naval Falcata: standard fighter for carthaginian carriers
Post by: ysi_maniac on November 01, 2009, 05:09:25 PM
The 8th punic war took place in 40s of last century. As the main weapons producing countries were involved in WWII, Carthage Forces was forced to trust in their own resources to produce a high performance fighter to equip their Air Corps.

This aircraft was the Falcata. In their design, carthaginian engineers were inspired in swedish FFVS J-22. So rough materials and quick development lead to an small and robust aircraft with a very study undercarriage adecuate for the rough airstrips in the north of Afrika.

As the basic design of Falcata was strong enough for carrier operations, its Navalization was simple: adding a hook, and raising cockpit some inches.

This model will not be a contender. It could be also a Styrene Junkyard or Anachronistic GB project but: I AM A MANIAC

Those are some really impressive mods, Carlos and they seem to fit that FW 190 to a T!

So, when are you going to build a Cartheginian carrier?

;D

The Idea of a "T" tail in A Fw190 fuselage is great, superb, may be the agility would be better.

A carrier's plane needs greater wingspan, I think

>A carrier's plane needs greater wingspan, I think<

I agree. A carrier whif I will do someday will essentially take the Ta-152 and make a two-seater torpedo-bomber out of it!

The wing extensions you have added would be a PERFECT place to have a drawn-in "fold" there when you are done, whether or not you actually have the wing folded up like so--(please excuse rough Photoshop)

Don't forget a carrier aircraft needs lots of flaps for low speed approach when landing.  Looks cool!  I want to see that TA 152 as a bomber, great idea.

That modificatio is truly inspired, Carlos! An absolute natural for a carrier plane with folding wingtips!

I bow to your genius, Senor!
