Title: Inspiration
Post by: anthonyp on January 18, 2009, 10:05:35 AM
Since I'm not sure exactly what's allowed in this GB (are fast jet trainer conversions allowed), I know I've got one that definitely fits this GB to show off.  I did this one I think for an old 1-week GB, I think.

A-32B Arizona ANG (Magister with Hellfires, jammers and targeting pods):

That's interesting Anthony - cheers!

I've just been looking at the armed Israeli ones, and their only pylon was about where your Hellfires are. Why not further inboard? Because the Magister has airbrakes, similar to the Bronco's pop-out spoilers, immediately outboard of the u/c bay, that's why.... :banghead:

(https://www.whatifmodellers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi35.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fd165%2Fhws5mp%2FThe%2520Whiffery%2FMagister%2Fspdbrakf.jpg&hash=d78cf8d6059ba2af0306b53380cb0fa5aecee54a)

So I think my armed version will have to have modified spoilers. Probably the easiest thing would be to make the inboard pylon a permanent fixture and have spoliers pop out of the sides of it.

Moved this from the original thread.

Last minute bit of inspiration as the GB kicks off, a Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie Titan Tornado II ultralight.  Those small tanks/canisters look like they could be swapped for something with a bit of wallop.  This things about as COIN as you get!

Saw Robert's Basset build, so thought I'd post a pic of the aircraft it's a fairly unknown.  Four Bassets served with the ETPS, but only one stayed long enough to get the Raspberry Ripple treatment.  Lovely scheme on a lovely little aeroplane.

Neat pics, think the munk would strain something if it tried to pick that up.

Yeah, it was a joke on Waddingtons part.  They had wheeled out an old Chippy (retired by then) & some wag had rolled the Red Top next to it.  The placard read something along the lines of 'Chipmunk F.1; Max speed 128mph or Mach 2+ if the missile fails to seperate!'. ;D

You just don't see that kind of humor at a US show.

Like the 48th Vulcan on the Airfix stand.  Still see references that they are going to produce it.

Lovely Strikemaster/JP T.5!  Didn't Chris (Falcon) do a desert one as well?
