G'day Gang,
IPMS Deutschland have a review of the Stryker M1128 MGS variant kitted by AFV Club. It doesn't seem that the kit has the stabilizing arms that are necessary for the vehicle to fire its main weapon off the centreline.

Very interesting interview with the owner of AFV club on Armorama
http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=2498
Thanks for linking that interview, Nev! That was really interesting. Especially regarding the competition and a parent company financing the model business.
According to Terry Ashley@PMMS (http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/) AFV Club will soon be releasing an EOD Tactical Robot in 1/35th scale (listed as kit #AC35010) (http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/newkitnews/afvclub.htm)
A quick check of the Hobby Fan web page (http://en.hobbyfan.com.tw/) shows similar information for this model at this link: AFV Club 1/35th scale kit #AC35010 EOD Tactical Robot (http://en.hobbyfan.com.tw/product/product_detailshowP.asp?no=20100227002).

It is a sad looking little thing in that image on PMMS.
I thought the ED-209 was already offered in 1/35th scale as a vinyl model.
I think it's kind of cool, although I remember seeing a lot of footage of Wheelbarrows going in when the pIRA were at their height in the eighties. Now I'd like a kit of a wheelbarrow, along with a 1/35 clapped out Ford Escourt to give it something to play with!
Horizon did a vinyl ED-209 some years ago but it wasn't particularly great, basic & poor fitting. It's been long oob from when Horizon went down the pan & they go for a pretty penny now. Possibly the kind of thing Moebius might pick up, hopefully?

Logically, Airfix should do one in 1/32nd (?) to go with their re-released Escort. Might be a bit close to home though....

AFV Club are releasing a 1/35th WW2 US M2A1 105mm Howitzer, 1/35th British MkIII Valentine MkI tank, 1/35th OH-58D Kiowa Warrior (Taiwan Army), 1/350th US Guppy IB class sub (Italian Navy Leonardo Da Vinci) and another rebox of the F-5E in 1/48th with Swiss and Austrian markings.
Site is here http://www.afvclub.com.tw/index-1.asp and watch the Happy Lunar New Year banner at top of the page for scrolling pics.

AFV Club have got a bunch of new releases upcoming, including (for me at least) the most interesting of the Churchills in the AVRE variant.

Opoooh, Churchill AVRE!
Hoping for an AVRE Centurion.
Could only wish Mortiz. AFV Club do a Cent I believe so it's a possibility rather than the Accurate Armour resin kit.
I'd also like to see other 'funnies' on the Churchill chassis along with flail tanks and the like on Grants & Matildas.
Regards,
Mav
Probably not unfortunately. AFV's Centurions are Mk.5's, treadheads might know better but I think the AVRE was based on a Mk.3?
The Centurion hasn't been well served in injection except for AFV's various 1/35 kits & Tamiya's Mk.3. Airfix's old kit (Mk.8 ) is the only one in the smaller scales IIRC.
Simon, I believe the standard Mk 5 AVRE was based on the Mk 3 (talk about confusing the issue) but there was another batch of conversions from Mk 12 Forward Observer variants which were originally Mk 9s, themselves developed from 7s, 6s and 5s. I'd suggest that would be possible with a new engine deck for starters. I'm actually surprised there haven't been any conversions available for the AFV Club kits.
Regards,
Mav
Thanks John. At the mo I'm trying to diversify my interests a little but I have to confess that I find tanks & AFV's to be quite difficult to pin down when it comes to marks. Aircraft are generally easier to pin down (although, I can think of a few that buck the trend), but tanks tend to be available in larger numbers & are more open to field modification.
Particularly British ones!
Yes, it seems there are diversities within some armoured families. Although that being said, I for one, am always bamboozled by the various sub-marks of F-16s for instance.

Mav

The Squadron book, "Centurion in Action" - quite old now actually - has perhaps the best explanation of all the various Centurion marks and modifications that I'm aware of.
The info I have above was taken from the self-same book...
Best looking variant of the Churchill (beyond the original with the in-hull gun) is the AVRE, in my opinion. Upcoming from AFV Club.

We're going to have a guest at our club meeting this Saturday, 14-09-19
"Mr. AFV Club" is attending this Saturday!
Greetings All -
Member Pei Chi has informed me that he will be escorting the President of AFV Club to our club meeting
this Saturday. Mr. Tserng will be in town visiting local museums before flying down to LA.
I thought it would be nice for him to see some of his company's products on display when he comes, so I am
inviting everyone to bring their completed AFV Club builds - if you want to. I am not sure how long he can
stay, so I am guessing that these will go on a different table or tables than the normal show and tell stuff.
AFV Club specializes in armor kits, but they also produce many fine aircraft and other types of models in
their inventory. Mr. Tserng has been supplying free models to reviewers for a few years now. It would
be nice to show him what we've done (in person). But this is entirely voluntary - I know how easy it is
to damage models in transit!
Thanks - and I'll see you all Saturday!
Eric
Cool!
Why not suggest to him that AFV Club should do an AC I Sentinel in 1/35 scale, Jon?
Could be an interesting exchange of views Jon. It's always useful for us consumers to hear about the production process from the horses mouth and it's also interesting for producers to understand where we are coming from. At the end of the day these meetings can be very useful and entertaining

Don't you mean the Weyland-Yutani Colonial Marines recce car?
I've long thought the Scout would be a good vehicle to add to the Alien universe.
A bit slow on the response, but I can see the Aliens styling.
I've always thought it had seventies sports car styling, an armoured Lancia Stratos.

Give it a sleeker, more organic, turret design that invokes the Stratos windscreen
and roof-line and the resemblance would be even greater.

The Stratos is probably my all time favourite car.
WAY late to this discussion, but back in the mists of t'interweb someone had chopped down an M8 Greyhound to a 4-wheeler and added an M-48 Commander's mg turret to it, and called it a FAR-V, placing it with his M-577 APC.
This is still something I plan, but I'm now thinking the hull front could stand a bit of rework, particularly around the hatch area.
I will be using an AAVP-7 turret as well, as it looks a bit better to my eye.
All of which is 'HTH, FWIW'-type information... ;)
