I've always liked the MiG-25 - streamlined but solid and thuggish and also looking slightly as if it belongs in Thunderbirds or some other Sixties vision of the future.
The Hasegawa kit is a nice, easy build but, although I've got more than a dozen in the stash, I've only built two. The problem is that, apart from one or two of the reconnaissance or trainer versions, they're all painted the same Soviet light grey. Most of my models are built with the Soviet Aircraft SIG displays in mind and a line up of the various light grey interceptor versions would look fairly dull.
Until now! Inspired by the colours used on some export MiG-29s, some Chinese schemes seen in Yefim Gordon's new "Chinese Aircraft" book from Hikoki and the knowledge that the Russians tried to sell the successor MiG-31 to the Chinese, I've decided to have a late run at this GB with blue Chinese MiG-25.
The kit is the 1/72 Hasegawa and this is where I've got so far:
Damn, those are some Sweet camo patterns, and that is one Sexy looking Foxbat. Foxy Foxbat!
That's rather similar to the blue camo the Indonesians used to put on their F-16s.
Looks very fetching on the old Foxbat.
I wondered what a foxbat would look like in the modern "Flanker Blues" and you have done it real justice!
oooh!
Excellent concept! Looking good.
Looking good - I've been planning a Chinese MiG-31 for some time now.
Regards,
Greg
Now that is just minty fresh! Nice paint work!
Thanks for the positive comments - I'm pleased that you like it so far.
Well, despite cracking the join between one of the intake trunks and the fuselage, snapping one of the wingtip counterbalance rails in half and breaking off one of the missile pylons, construction and painting are now finished.
However, I still have to varnish it, add decals, paint the canopy frames, add the missiles and give it a final coat of varnish. It should make the deadline, but it'll be a close thing (Unless I hold out for November 31, as specified in The Rules! )
It's looking bloody good!
Best of luck finishing it!
*whistles innocently*
Looks like it'd be juuust about done on time. I might be inclined to assume it's finished on time but photographed late if the finished product gets posted on the 31st or 32nd... ;D

Much appreciated  First coat of varnish is done and decals should go on this afternoon.
Finished!!! As always, there are a couple of things that I'd like to have done better, but I'm fairly happy with it.
I'm also relieved to have actually got it finished and into the GB - I had models planned for the Profiles, One-Week and Spitfire GBs but problems with Life, The Universe and Everything have seriously curtailed my modelling time this year, so finishing the MiG is particularly pleasing.
Now for some relaxation :drink: before the Trainers With Teeth GB kicks off - - -
WOW! Seriously impressed with that McGreig!
Paul Harrison
Yay - you got it in - well done! I was going to say under the wire, but it being a Foxbat, it's more like way, way over it. Probably some jiggery-pokery with time zones too.........
It looks really good, and entirely plausible had the PRC and the Soviet Union not fallen out with each other.
gorgeous finish!
Nice. That is a good camo for the Mig. Well done.

Yet another gorgeous McG camo scheme! Those Chinese markings are the perfect compliment!
