I had a really rare day at the office today, so I came home and cracked a Sam Adams. I drink only occaisionally, and practically never after work. The reason is I like to come home and hit the workbench and I don't think a few drinks would improve my skills any.
So I'm drinking this delicious beer and I had an idea:
The "Under the Influence" GB!
Proposed Rules:
GB lasts for one month
Cutting parts from the sprues and any other preparatory tasks that may be dangerous while Under the Influence should be done in advance, while sober.
1. You must post a picture of what you're Under the Influence of: beer, whiskey, espresso, Nyquil, cold medicine, Drano, whatever.
(don't post anything you don't want everyone to see)
Declare what you intend to be Under the Influence of in advance for bonus points!
2. Build your project while Under the Influence.
3. Any model is eligilble so long as you whiff it!
4. Winner(s) determined by votes cast by forum members.
5. There is no Rule #5.
6. Have fun!
Suggestions?

AHHHHH HA HA I'm in ;D
Sounds like a real trip. But I wonder whose going to pay for all those hospital and ER visits to sew up the cuts from X-acto knives?

Hehehe I should've known. Now to have you be the first one to respond, well that's impressive!

P.S. Unfortunately, you're on your own for any associated medical costs, Ed. We could add a rule that cutting and preparing parts in advance for safety's sake is allowed and a good idea.
HEE HEE My next job don't start till midnight tomorrow. Might as well call this the Drunk Toolslinger GB ;D
I'm in On a combo of Woodchuck hard cider,Guinness & Johnnie Walker Black Label    !!! No clue as to what i will be able to build and I promise only to use 1 of these beverages per modeling session

Cool ! Looks like every model I've built since 1986 or so would be eligible ! Mind you, to protect the guilty, I'm not snapping any pics of the baggie......
So, like, even the painting phase needs to be done while unsober?

That's the idea! Although being "Under the Influence" spans a fairly wide range from just having a drink to being unable to get up off the floor.

I'd probably take about a month to build the simplist of kits so does that mean I have to stay p!ssed for that length of time??? I can see the rest of my life going down the pan, although it could be fun!
Under the influence of vapors from Tamiya cement, turpentine oil, ... Would be OK?

Well then original idea was that you can be Under the Influence of anything. I like the idea of leaving that part undefined.
While I can understand the temptation to stay sauced for the entire month this proposed GB would run, you actually only need be Under the Influence while working on your entry.
What do you think about awarding bonus points for posts made while Under the Influence to your project's build thread?
I think I need a drink now.

Yeah uh, seeing how I saw into my palms often enough while sober.... I'd participate with nothing sharper than some old nailclippers to get the sprues off.

I added a caveat regarding this which should help ease some concerns.

Hmmm - now my favorite beverage is Robinson's Old Tom ale. Robbie's brewery have a pretty keen unicorn-on-a-shield crest, and the logo for the beer is a winking tomcat, so I'm thinking, sponsored F-14 warbird, anyone?
The trouble is that, with Old Tom being 8%, I'm even more likely to fall asleep and do nothing "under the influence" than I am anyway.....
Might look something like this...........

Just arrived at the office: 2 Hobbycraft SPAD XIII kits (1/32) with the intent of continuing this retrotech idea which is a cheap excuse to get me out of most WW-1 rigging. Converted to a pair of monoplanes, one parasol, the other lower winged, machine guns removed but redeemed by being the cargo carrier of this product in full company colors:
(https://www.whatifmodellers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.whisky.fr%2Fmedias%2Fimages%2Fproduits%2F675x900%2Fm14695.jpg&hash=52075f4d922acb9e64f27a98176acd6b3e76364c)
Smaller volumes make the SPAD a reasonable (at least in this fiction) air transporter. The usual glass cockpit, carbon fibre wings, linen aft fuselage, etc. apply.
Tentatively named the SPAD Spirits.
Yes, I know, the SPAD is not from the UK. There is just not a RR Eagle powered DH.4 in 1/32 available, which is the machine I'd have preferred. Since there is to be some ground crew and support vehicles, 1/48 is largely out as a working scale for the project.

Please see all my models in the archives........under the influance...infueiance...inflinance....influiance...every one. :drink:
Hi Bri,
I have so many tablets, liquids, inhalers etc that the cab driver often stops the car to see whats rattl`in. Can I do a slightly less under the inflooense build?.
Cheers :drink:

Does "under the influence of Mrs. Gunfighter" count? that means No budget for kits, No room for workbench, No time for modelling...so the predictable result is a looooooong build :banghead: anyway, she´s pretty...
There have been a few online purchases while under the influence that likely would have never occurred elsewise.
Do they count?
In all actuality, the HC Cutlass/SAC metal gear purchase qualifies as such (either Laphroaig 10 year or Johnny Walker Black Label) and is on deck for conversion into the appropriate AU-2 Cutlass subtype.

Resurrecting this one, 'cos I've had a brainwave: would being under the influence of a philosophy be elegible?
