Folks,
A proposal for a GB sometime next year (plenty or warning ;D). Given that 2009 is the last full year the RAAF F-111s are planned to be operated, maybe a GB dedicated to the F-111 before it goes out of service. Thoughts? I'd be willing to be moderator (there that part is already done).
Regards,
Greg
I would be in because IMO F-111 is one of the most elegant planes in the world. :cheers:
Sounds good! :thumbsup:
word up man, im down
Shas 8)
Given I've done 50+ Pig profiles, I've got a hankering to knock one 2gether... (or two, or three or... :party:)
Regards,
Mav
I wonder what people would say if I said "I might be able to organise a flight in a F-111 as a prize"?

Greg

WOW :cheers:
I AM EFFIN IN ;D :wub: :thumbsup:
Count me in ;D :thumbsup:
I've got a SparkVark in the stash. I might have to enter this one.
Dang Greg, it'd be worth the trip to Qld just for that!!!
Since the ARC guys just finished an F-111 GB, may I suggest we expand the scope somewhat and allow other side-by-side twin seat supersonic strike aircraft, like the TSR.2 or the Vigilante, or for that matter the Fencer? I've been contemplating a USAF A-5D as a replacement for the F-111; as well as a USN A-5E conventional supersonic strike aircraft, and this would give me an excuse... :-)

:thumbsup:
I'll do my part........
I like the idea of it being just F-111's

I suggest a counter proposal: Include types that were evaluated by or offered to the RAAF during the selection process that led to the purchase of the F-111.
So that would allow, amongst others:
Vulcan
Vigilante
Mirage IV
Buccaneer
B-47
B-58
F-4 Phantom
TSR-2
Just a thought....
:cheers:
Duncan
Sorry guys, but those proposals would kind of defeat the underlying purpose of the GB - a tribute to the F-111 which will be going out of service. Re ARC's GB, I am proposing this one for sometime next year, so there shouldn't be a problem.
Regards,
Greg
Thought I would give this one a bump since we're about to enter the last year of F-111 operations...
Regards,
Greg
I'd have to give it serious thought... I've got a SparkVark destined for a RW build as part of my EW birds collection... but a WHIF SparkVark in CAF 414 (EW) Sqdn colours ca. mid 1980's.
Nice to pay homage to an old warrior this way, in the build or not... I like the idea.
like the idea!
There is an F-111B conversion now available in 1/72 from Australia for those wishing to do the Interceptor variant, however it only represents the prototypes and not the pre-production version with the raised cockpit and slightly longer nose.

I think I'd like to take part. :o

That'd be just like the original Revell kit then? You could build an A or B from the bits in the box. I bet harly anyone made a B though!
Who does the kit please and where would I get one from?
Shameless Plug for new GB Poll!
After all folks - consider this: The last operational F-111s are starting to be replaced (see here (http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,25775.15.html)).
I may even be able to offer a cool prize.

Greg

I am in! If I win will it be able to collect me from Biggin Hill :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
I'm still interested depending on what timeframe we're looking at ;)
I'm happy with any timeline so long as it finishes this year.
I'm also happy to allow already started models so long as they fit into the rules and are not actually finished at the time the contest starts.
Now go get yourself ready to vote for this GB or else I'll put you on Carlo Kopp's mailing list (mind you that might also be a prize...)
Regards,
Greg
This one had better get up now - I organised the prize today!
Regards,
Greg
I was just notified that my kit for this one is en route. I snagged the Old Revell TFX kit! :party:
I'll have to find a kit but I'm in for an F-111 GB !
:cheers:
im in aqlso got a great idea for a"spark vark"
this idea is hell for me, as i would love to do a vark, BUT id have to do it in 48th to get any use and i havent the space, or realy the cash, and im not too shure on weather id want to buthcher one enough to get it "right"
the BAC Filton open day bird, escape pod above on chute, a rack of ordanace Vs in front, a nd one wing off with the pivot pin by the landing gear. ( they used to sevice them there when i was growing up and thats one of the displays that used to be there every year, along with the 1:72 scale Nimitz deck loaded with planes)
Excuses, excuses - just remember the Carlo Kopp mailing list threat!
Regards,
Greg
Found something ;D

LOL - I did that for the Shorter Aeroplanes comedy thread. Anyone contemplating copying it in plastic should bear in mind that it was surprisingly hard to do in pixels, since there really arn't that many parallel sections on the 'vark....

the F-111 just isn't pretty to me (BLASPHEMY!!) so I am not worried if it looks 'odd' :thumbsup:

I don't think its blasphemy - in fact, no-one could call the F-111 'pretty'. It's a brute - the name 'Pig' suits it well.

Greg
Shameless plug!!
Remember:
- It's the last year of F-111 operations - this makes a nice tribute;
- I am already volunteering to be moderator - honestly, it's a positive thing;
- I already have a very rare, nifty prize sorted out;
- There's a number of relatively new F-111 kits available;
- There's quite a few conversions/accessories available as well;
- There's plenty of ideas available here (http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,5006.0/highlight,f-111.html) and here (http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,27180.0.html) amongst others; and
- I am willing to use the Carlo Kopp mailing list threat if you don't vote for me (trust me, I have ways of finding out...)!
Regards,
Greg
Just in case I haven't said so already, I'm def interested in this one . . . got quite a few Vark/Pig ideas to build, most based on the B but a couple of Aussies from a regional war with an extremist Indonesia ;)

Comrades, do you civic duty (or there will be consequences) and vote for the F-111 GB in the New Poll (http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,28624.0.html).

The threat won't work on me. I've been a friend of Carlo's for over 15 years. I know his email address and he knows me. :mellow: :mellow:
Well comrades,
We're off and away - see here (http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/board,113.0.html)! If you have look too, we've got a few twists in the rules this time.

I think you misunderstand, as Commissar of all F-111 GB things, I don't actually enter...I control the others. Now get to work!!!!

Hmmm.. stretching it a bit.. what about the F-111ski.. the Su-24 Fencer ?
Although after a rummage in the attic I have found an old F-111 that may need a rebirth

Nope , sorry -a F-111 must be used or at least sufficient parts there-of. Since this is the last year of F-111 ops world wide, the idea of the GB is as a tribute to it.
