Title: Extrakit Sea Vixen
Post by: Gary on August 15, 2008, 03:44:04 AM
Well I have to tell ya, after the lovely Meteor kit I bought I decided to toss my Frog/Revelle Sea Vixen and thoughts of detailing them to death with Airwaves PE and get the Extrakit Sea Vixen.
A wonderful kit in almost every measure except that I do have a question about the flight crews.

Were they Hobbits?
Perhaps Smurfs?

The friggen bang seats a third to a half smaller than regular 72nd scale seats!
I got a set of Buccaneer seats along with this order and was shocked to see the size of the seats.
Between the Flagon and this, it hasn't been a stellar week for cockpits for me.

I do remember hearing that the bang seats were deliberately scaled down to 1/87ish.  Apparently this was so more detail could be added to the cockpit.  I take it the Bucc seats won't fit without some major surgery?

I got my hands on a pair of resin MB Mk.4 seats that look like they should fit without much issue.

The seats are only one issue if you go by this WIP thread over at Britmodeller:

Personally, I'm putting of starting mine until CMK puts out a set of intake and exhaust FOD guards and a wing fold set. I know Airwaves have both, but they are for the old Frog kit and I have no idea how compatible they might be with the Xtrakit one.
