This may be lightly modified in a certain way.
I was SO close to building this one.... looking forward to seeing this one progress.
Ian
^^^^^ But please, do not stop. You would build it in 1/48 and I am absolutely sure your paint job would be superbe.
H*ll no !
1:72 Waaayyyy to small for me. Few years ago I built the 1:48 Occidental Gina just after it came out...... It is approximately 65% filler/30% bad language !
I'll leave leave this one to you  Go for it.
Ian
^^^^ and I will not use the Revell kit, but the Airfix  ;D I like to punish myself
Update
Do you know? as I forgot to scratch build side consoles before closing fuselage :banghead: I had to add a pilot
Security note: 2nd pic is blurred to avoid pilot identification ;D
Well I guess that US Army would load the simple and small Gina with tons of avionics, eventualy  I will consider A-4M as a modification model.
Looking very nifty Carlos ,are you eliminating the fuselage guns?
ahhhh, the avionics/ECM hub is a stroke of genius, Carlos. Good call on that!

It will have a pair of 20mm guns, like German version.
Lookin' good Carlos!
Almost looks like an A-7 with that hump, looking good Carlos!
Interesting project Ysi - right up my street!

Wen't they 30mm DEFAs?
Good call on the avionics hump mate :)
Like the pilot as well.
Thanks to all of you!
BTW: I am thinking to equip this plane with two Mavericks. Would it need any bit to use them properly? I mean designators, rangefinders or the like.
A plane preferebly devoted to close support, flying low, would need a jammer?
Thanks,
Carlos.
PD: the nose will be configured as the nose of a Skyhawk A-4M

No I don't think so: A-10s are pretty "avionics-lite" and they use Maverick. The only essentials are a TV screen in the cockpit to show the pilot what the TV/FLIR in the missile is seeing, and the appropriate control panel to allow him to steer the cross-hairs around and lock it on. The laser version needs a designator of course, but that can be provided by a FAC, so the CAS plane still doesn't need one itself (anyway, IIRC, the Laser-Maverick is only used by the USMC, not the US Army).
One useful bit of kit, which could be put in a G-91's nose at the expense of the recce cameras, would be a Laser Rangefinder and Marked Target Seeker (LRMTS) like on the Jaguar. This allows the HUD and weapon control system to use a FAC's target designation for
any kind of attack: bombs, rockets, guns etc.... Alternatively, you could always have a Pave Penny pod scabbed under the nose, A-7-style.
^^^^^^^^ Is A-4M equipped with this?
Yeah, the A-4M has a 'laser spot tracker' in the nose.
Isn't the A-4M kit basically the ARBS (Angle Rate Bombing System) that's also used in the Harrier II?
I think your right, it's largely the same kit. Earlier A-4M's seem to have had a lens in the nose similar to Harrier GR.5's, later ones seem to have had various fairings & 'tusks' similar to the GR.7. I'm no expert on A-4's, but that's what it seems like to me.
you guys are right. The ARBS and weapons computer was developed for the A-4M and the Marines were impressed enough with it to have it installed in the AV-8Bs.
Ok, this will not be ready on time :banghead: :banghead: procrastination attacks again.
But you will see the result asap
bttb, this is current status
...
btw: today I am adding a transparent nose tip
That's looking very promising Ysi!
That hexagonal-section sprue is a gift for electronics pods, isn't it? ;D
Yeah! Airfix and KP sprues.
Hi MODS,
I will not finish this project today :banghead: :banghead: . So, can you move this thread to Current and Finished Projects ?
Anyway I will try to finish asap, cos I really like this model
Thanks
I like it too and my MiGina the second will also not be finished on time so we can have our own little unofficial Didn't make it in on time GB ;D
Yeah, please finish it Ysi: it's an interesting idea.
The "Didn't Make the GB" GB sounds interesting, but how would you organise it? (a deadline would be irrelevent....)
Too bad you won't finish it on time Carlos, cos it looks killer.
I am looking forward to the result!

There was the "Phoenix GB" a while back which was for unfinished GB projects, moderated by the one and only Mr Howling Mouse. If memory serves, it was originally proposed with an eight year time frame.

Which should coincide with the completion of his 'Worlds Ugliest Helicopter' project. Something that has been in the works for quite some time now... :)
Cool as hell. I can't wait to see the finished product.
Just to bring it back current again
Outstanding work!! Looking forward to seeing the rollout.
Just to tell you that I am retaking this build.
Stay tuned!
WOW!, a What-if-izzed G-91.
Nice idea: I have never considered the italian Sabre for a What If.
Believe me, it is progressing ...
BTW, I am seriously considering to install Mavericks in wing tip rails ... what do you think? could they be too heavy?
Sidewinder just below 100 kg, Maverick just above 200 kg (more than double)
Never seen before a Maverick on the wing tip rails, but if the result look right, why not?
And it's a what if then there is ever a "gray zone" where to operate.
Hope it is a good way to finsh the year!
Oh, that came out nice.
Good work.
The pieces copied from the Skyhawk look adequate on a G-91.
Believable Whif topped off with a wild paint scheme. Well done, Carlos!
Jealous over here.

Sweet - that looks really credible!*
* i.e. it's very credible that the US Army would take something fundamentally simple and then load it up with every bell and whistle going.... ;D ;)

Hi People, thanks for your kind words!
I'm loving the use of 80s US Army vehicle camo
I like that
Good to see it finally finished Carlos!
That's an outstanding way to end the year, Carlos! Your G-91 is a winner all the way and the paint work is a marvel to behold!

What's not to like ? - The offspring of a G91 and a late model Skyhawk, and it's painted in MERDC pattern camo !!
Brilliant
Ian
What a great way to finish up a project! Awesome job Carlos.
Bad Azz!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice outcome on that!
