This started as a second buildup of my F-107A kit while I worked out the master for production molds (the first is a single-seater -A in Thunderbird markings that hasn't been finished yet). The basis was the painting and 3-view of the TF-107 trainer in William Simone's F-107A book .I re-sectioned two of my single-seat noxe-section castings, plus canopy plugs, and joined these to form a two-seat cockpit. At this time I saw an Aero Modeler magazine F-107 article with profile variants, some using the radome/avionics from an A-5 Vigilante. Although I was nearly done with the construction as first intended, I cut off the nose forward of the canopy-break and scratchbuilt the additional sections, plus the larger radome, built up from styrene to form the wider nose-extension and radome, but decided to go with an interceptor-variant. The only other alteration I made was to add a Vulcan cannon-muzzle to the fuselage; the installation is seen in Simone's book, but never contemplated seriously as a replacement for the M-39 cannons, but I built it on anyway, fairing over the other gun-ports on the opposite side. (By this point I had stripped/repainted the model several times because of the extra construction and the changeovers, including the addition of a taller tailfin, Vigilante-style wing-strakes, and an enclosed afterburner extension, all of which I'm adding to the kit when it's released.)
A fourth paint-scheme was started when I decided to make it a mid-seventies version, the overall color was Krylon Bahama Blue, which seems a good match for the weathered ADC colors of F-106s at the time.
The missile pylons were rebuilt parts from a Fujimi F-4, with added strips for the rails; the Falcons from a Monogram F-106, and the Sidewinders from the spares box. The center-tank is a pre-production resin casting; the wing-tanks are from a Monogram F-100 that were already finished in camo, but decided to leave the paint as is, and only changed the pylon color to match the overall scheme (have seen photos of similar mix-and-match variations).
The tailfin and center-tank markings were from a aftermarket 1/72 scale F-106 decal sheet, the other markings were from the spares box, with the "Diana"/WW eagle crest noseart handpainted. The formation strips were strips of yellow Goldrberg trim-sheet with pen-markings. Much of the original engraved detailing had been removed or painted over to the point it was simply gone, so using some spare castings as guides, I just laid all the panel-lines with pen, and weathered it with charcoal pencils. The remainder of the painted detail was hand-brushed with acrylics or Pentel brush-pens. The canopy was done with the usual 3-step Future dip-and drip. Finish coats were Krylon Satin Clear and Matte.

very nice! ^_^
First class
Well done !
Wow ! Does that ever change the look of the bird ! Nice job....love the colours, and the heavy weathering. makes her look used ! Cool weapons load as well. The extra work you did to the front end really seems to 'beef' it up. Makes it look much more like a workhorse. I also like the way you did the tanks, goes right along with an a/c that is being worked hard.
Kinda looks alot like a Crusader from the bottom, to. Nice !

I didn't even know there was a 1/48th F-107 available to do something this wonderful to - please provide more details of the kit.
Regards,
Greg
Awesome build Orne,

That looks good! I've always wondered why we don't seem to see many F-107 whiffs on this site now the Trumpeter kit has been out a little while.
Wow! That nose really does change the look of it.
Very nice indeed :)
Very nice! B) I agree with the other posts; the reworked nose gives it very 'operation' look.
 Bryan
Greg/GTX - the Rebellion Creations kit is in final stage of development, still need to finish detailing on the landing gear inner doors and make production molds for the additional parts seen on the model (also might work up a few extra pieces for a navalized version). Had this listed in FSM New Kit report a few months back for a Dec. 2007 release, but will probaly miss that by a few weeks.
Damn that is one kit!!
Nice finished looks fantastic!!!
Orne,
Thank you for the information - would you mind informing us of when the kit is available? A 1/48th F-107 has some definite possibilities!!!
Regards,
Greg
Alright, I know I've been gone awhile but who IS this guy?! This is freaky cool.
Like a 3d illustration gone wild.
"Who is this guy?"

Anyway, will post release-date soon as I know what it is (yes, all this will be in one kit).
Come to think of it, I may have purchased one of your Batura conversion kits at one point (if it involves the '66 Futura painted Bat-black, I pretty much gotta have it!).
Excellent! I passed one of these on for the Secret Santa exchange, and I can see now that I'm going to have to do one myself. That thing is wicked!
Hwoo-Coo-eee!!!!!!!!!!!! (hummahumma!)

Very impressive, Orne. If we buy one of your kits and want to do the two-seater, will you sell the extra necessary bits? I'm in agreement that the two-seater would make a marvelous WW bird.
Elmeryale - single and twin-seat configuration parts will be in the kit along with the other extras mentioned above - A-5 radome/nose option, strakes, extended fin, enclosed exhaust-shroud - no additional parts need to be ordered.
John - not sure if you're talking about the older 1/12 scale body conversion or the small 1/25 scale Skyhook set for the Revell kit. Anyway, links to the Gen 7 Batura 1/12 kit (complete body with interior, chassis, wheels - not a conversion anymore, unless you want to set it up as a driveable RC racer):

Hmmm...I think the other one I had was just the conversion kit for the old Revell Futura. Everything's boxed up now so it's a mystery.
I think the other large version complete kit I have is 1:18 so this must be new (to me).
If this new 1:12 version is a complete and original kit, I'm in. I've sent you an e-mail enquiry to the two addresses listed at your link.
Thanks!
The sound you hear revurberating around this site is my jaw hitting the keyboard ! :jawdrop:

Orme, any chance at all of you doing a conversion for the NAR-349, 3-engined interceptor version of the Vigilante?
Very impressive look! B) I really enjoy the who package.
Eddie
There's a old 1/72 RA-5 buildup sitting on the shelf that I'm going to convert to the 3-engine bird for fun, but have no plans for any conv. set for the Trumpeter kit.
