Title: Nice Twin-engined P-40C on Hyperscale
Post by: jcf on August 22, 2006, 07:26:32 AM
but Brett evidently thinks the twin-engined job is "fictional", the nose armament was probably never fitted but the rest was for real.

That P-40Q is crying for a twin-engine conversion of its own.

I wonder if Piotr would sell copies of his nose and nacelle castings?

Cheers, Jon

My god thats ugly!

Having said that, I once went out with a girl who had a nose just like that, except for the guns ^_^

The twin engine P-40 must have handled like a Dog with the wings that short and the 2 ailison engines the view to the sides must have been terrible not to mention that bolth engines have right handed props so the torque would have been monsterous but otherwise a verry cool looking build ;)

As far as I know it never got beyond the mock-up stage.
In the photo I have it doesn't really look flightworthy.
The engine assemblies are actually Merlins of the P-40F or L type.

The fuselage is definitely too short...but the basic layout would look cool uisng the P-40Q as a starting point.

The Orks flew them against the Elves during the preliminary manoevres at Haelgriflingae Meadow. The Elves were flying their suped-up p-38s and wiped the floor with them. An Orkenwaffe "Turkey Shoot" with them on the receiving end!!

There was an intersting topic about this twin-engined P-40 on Overscan's site at http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/inde...php?topic=509.0 (http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=509.0)
(I will direct here there as well, we are friends...)

IMHO, calling it a "dog" is an insult to canids everywhere.  Between the high wing loading, the short-coupled tail, and the vision-blocking nacelles, it'd be a wonder if it survived first flight (actually, I think the Engrish term, "first fright" might be more applicable in this case).

**shudder**
