This is a model made specifically for a groub build organized for our modelclub, here in Hellas (www.modelclub.gr). I came here after a kind invitation of Damian, who saw my post at ARC and asked me to post it here also. Thanks to him i now know, that there is a What-If board available :).
This model took me approximately 3 months to complete. Eduard Photoetched parts where used, the ACESS-II seat of Legend productions and alot of scratchbuilding (including the Vulcan and its housing) where done on this one to achieve a certain level of detail.
Gunze acrylics with alot of mixes where used to achieve the 4 different colours of the camouflage, which i called GHOST-III  . It is painted freehand, using the Harder & Steenbeck Evolution with the 0.2mm nozzle attached.
So here you go, some pictures that show a little "in progress" steps before finishing this kit.

The painting in its first stages. It took me approximately 24 hours to settle with the right colours and complete it. The dark blue was repainted 3 times before i felt satisfied with the shade of it. Alot of different shades where used to give a weathered effect on the aircraft. It added significantly on the realism of the camouflage. ^_^

A view of the undersides, the camouflage was sprayed in wraparround mode. That required a rather big ammount of time and patience.

The final result of the weathering on the vulcan cannon can be seen here. I used postshading technics and Smoke from Gunze to achieve this kind of weathering.

The end result has indeed satisfied me, and it worth all the effort and time spent on it. I would definitely try and do another what-if, and the Rafale in 1:48 from Revell is the perfect candidate :D .
Welcome to WHIF!
Congratulations on building a very impressive model from a kit that has received a lot of negative comments.
This is very well done model and the amount of detail that you have managed to include is excellent.
Dare I say, thats probably the best looking Raptor model I've ever seen
Ya know, that plane looks really sharp in Hellenic colors. Welcome aboard!

THAT'S ABSOLUTELY AWESOME  :P  :P  :P  :P

wow...awesome...
its the best ´22 ever seen...the best camo indeed...
welcome !
Thank you all for your kind replies and the welcoming. I am happy i could discover this forum with the help of Damian. Ofcourse it will be my first move to post the Rafale when its completed here, and i will do my best for it to have a suited camouflage for its sillouette, but not the same as this F-22. I am still working it out.
Have good modelling days! :)
And don't forget Brutalos: if you want some help or some information for your Rafale, we're here !! ;)
Did you already chose your Rafale nationality??
In my dreams, I often imagine Rafale in Greek, Egyptian, Taiwanese and Indian camos!! So lovely scheme's possibilities!!
So, good luck and "reviens-nous vite avec ton Rafale! " :P
Still looking bloody great Brutalos B)
Let's have three cheers for Damian
Hi again Brutalos!!!
Welocme to the brotherhood!!!
Again I say that is one of the best models I've seen this year and the best '22 EVER!!!
Agreed. I keep coming back to look at it.
A terrific job.
I quite fancy a Greek F-35 now too. :P
Great work! Congratulations... :)

Shas B)
As I said in the other thread, this is the nicest F-22 I have seen, very nice
Thanks for accepting the invitation and sharing this great model with us, hope to see more! Thanks to Damian2 for his quick thinking and delivery of the invite :)
Jeff G.
You make me blush   . I must say that is the most warm welcome i have ever received...Thank you again  .
The Rafale is going to be Greek as well, maybe in a mixed 3-tone scheme like the one that Hellenic Mirage-2000's are wearing. Still have to decide :D. I'll be sure to come here first if i will need any help!
Cheers guys! :tornado:
Yes, welcome aboard, Brutalos !
Very nice job indeed....the nicest F-22 yet. Awesome job on the paint.
Well thats a bloody awesome 22!!! I must say a long long time i htought that the rapotr is a boring plane but with that super camo it looks so hammerst great!!! can't wait to see the rafale!!
Wowsers, what a great scheme! That's the first time I've seen a Raptor and thought she was beautiful. (or a box of parts to scab onto another model) You make me wanna build something again!
Now that's making a grand entrance with style B). Welcome aboard! Outstanding build with an awesome paint job. I, too, keep coming back for more looks. Looking forward to more of your work.
Eddie
Everybody has pretty much said what I was thinking but for the record......
WOW
and
Welcome!
Welcome aboard Brutalos, and what an entry you've made, absolutely fantastic Raptor.
Patrick
Holy F@#$%^g Sh*t, that is one Kick donkey Raptor!!! B) B) B)
:o HOLY C%$P!!!!!!!!!!!! That is amazing work!!!! Welcome aboard, and PLEASE show us more of your goodies.
Did you paint that camo pattern freehanded with an airbrush?? What colors did you use....it looks right at home with the Greek markings.
Haha! You made me laugh with those awesome comments    :D :D .
Now for the questions of BobbyK, yes the camouflage is painted freehand with a double action airbrush B) . The colours that was used where in total approximation as follows (since i didn't had the enlightment to keep a log of mixes percentage (%) when i made 'em) :
FS 36307 , LIFECOLOR - UA 113 , with GUNZE mixes using the : H-334 & Η-337 in 5/1 proportion.
FS 36251 , LIFECOLOR - UA 034 , with GUNZE i used exclusively the Η-337 with some addition of mat white H-11.
FS 35237 , LIFECOLOR - UA 145 , with GUNZE (now thats one picky b@st@rd) it can be done with H-42 & Η-25 & H-11 & H-308 in 3 / 1 / 3 / 2 proportion.
The deep blue tone is almost identical to the one used on the Hellenic Mirage-2000's. It comes from a mix using the Η-42 & Η-308 in 3/1 proportion.
The lifecolor codes are being given because i took those as a reference to make the first three. They did helped me alot to achieve the colour tones that i needed.
I hope this helps more than confuses!!  B) :P . Ohhh, and by the way, here you are, three more pics to try and ease your apetite for more :D.

That is one damned impressive display of freehand airbrushing!!!!!!
The F22 looks awesome. I've got the italeri F22 I think that I willl have to go and chase up those detail sets.
Welcome aboard!
AMAZING!!
:o :o :o :o
What a debut !
The guys have covered just about all I could say.... so, simply, welcome along, I for one am looking forward to your next model - What If or Real....
Ian
AMAZING!!
STUNNING!!!
FANTASTIC!!!
10/10, go to the top of the class B)
Is there a thread on ARC? I'm sure their resident F-22 drivers would like it
That does it----I'm packing up the modelling tools, etc. and goin' HOME! :P
This is way too good. :o
Ridiculously good. I mean, I've heard about models this good but thought they were mythical, like King Arthur, life without taxes, lesbians without chest-hair...
This is so over the top. How does anyone get to this degree of excellence?
Inspiring but a little scary too. Time to add a new folder to my collection of What If Artwork.
Holy Mackerel. That is just plane stunning, a real fantastic job.
 greg
Thank you for your kind replies! See you soon with the next project ;) .
Between September 28th and October 1st we had our annual IPMS modelling contest. I went there with my What-If Raptor.... and here are the results!! Gold medal in the What-If category! It sure gave me strength to continue the ongoing projects. Thank you all again for your kind words some months ago. I also found out that almost everybody liked the Raptor in its What-If camouflage much better that the dull two tone grey one ;).
(https://www.whatifmodellers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi9.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fa59%2FBrutalos%2FF-22A-Raptor.jpg&hash=5bdc7801a9dce6d2bf103a24b93e94e64b42b21a)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Very well deserved too :D :D
Absolutely stunning!
I don't care much for the Raptor in reality, but your rendition of it here is great.
Congratulations, and thoroughly deserved :)
BRAVO! Congratulations on the win, it is as beautiful now as ever
Of COURSE it won!!! ;)
This is still the most interesting, captivating Raptor I've ever seen (model or real).
Congratulations!!! B)
And may I ask is that a Greek Typhoon behind your Raptor???

Thank you all!! And, yes Son of Damian, this is a Greek Eurofighter in Mirage-2000 colours behind my Raptor! :)
Congrats Brutalos!!
You surely deserve it: your F-22 was the best looking Raptor I ever saw!!
May I ask you if you still plan to build a Rafale in HAL scheme?
If you do, don't forget that someone (hem... I mean ME!!) here will probably fall in love with such a new what-if model!!
Thank you PolluxDeltaSeven! Yes the What-If Rafale is in my next to do projects. I am already trying to figure out how to invest my time better for all those models that are waiting in my closet! :P :P
QuoteYes the What-If Rafale is in my next to do projects.
Very good news!!!!
I'm myself a big fan of the Rafale aircraft, so if you need any information about it, just send me an PM!! ;)
I really hope that the HAF will finally chose the Rafale... but for that, Dassault had to learn "how to sell combat planes in the 21th century"!
Thank you! I will keep that in mind! As things are turning out the Rafale will be too difficult to be chosen, the eurofighter has a significant head in the likings of our military investigators. Personally i would love for us to buy some Flankers... but thats never gonna happen...
QuotePersonally i would love for us to buy some Flankers... but thats never gonna happen...
Ain't that always the way?
Sigh.
Heartiest congratulations - and to the judges for having the courage to give First to a WIF :)
Congratulations Brutalos! Very well deserved I might add :D
QuoteHeartiest congratulations - and to the judges for having the courage to give First to a WIF :)
They kinda had to, seeing as it was in the whiff category ;)
Perfect
