Title: Vought F5U-1
Post by: GTX on June 17, 2006, 02:53:16 PM
Hi folks,

Does anyone know if there is a kit of the Vought F5U-1 available in 1/48?  I have a plan to do a RNZAF bird.

Regards,

Greg

None that I'm aware of in 1/48.

If the French had bought it, would they have called it the Crèpe Volante?

:)

If the Germans used it..would it be part of the LuftWaffle?

Alvis 3.1

And no, as far as I know, it's only been kitted in 1/72. Sorry

I have the 1/72 one, to be built, and I think I may start it right now: an idea just crossed my mind of a further what-if version: asymmetrical. Thanks!

There have been two resin kits available. Here's a review of the Miku Models kit. (http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/allies/us/cleaverf5upreview.htm)

There was another resin kit released but I can't remember who the manufacturer  was and if it was better or worse quality wise. If you can find the Miku kit at a reasonable price then grab it.

Here's the other one: Professional Models Flapjack. (http://www.internetmodeler.com/2002/july/aviation/Flapjack.htm)

This one looks like the one to get.
