Soviet Harrier: Take Sea Harrier. Fit a MiG-29 or shrinked Su-27 nose. Cover up the extra intakes on the sides of the intakes. Tail fins from Su-22.

Soviet A-10: Remove engines, and refit them on top and in front of the wings, like the An-72. Maybe move wings up to the top of the fuselage.

Man, that gunner's gotta watch that centre engine....... :o  ;D

I've got a couple of Mystere IVs that I bought with the intention of Sovietizing them, in fact I very nearly did one for the 1 week GB, so count me in if it runs!

I just had an Idea.

Take your favourite aircraft, armour or ship subject and make a soviet copy of it!

Yes armour is ok.

For exmple I am thinking of making a Soviet copy of B-36.

Why not!!

After all the Soviets got the giant leap forward in aero-technology and design, after (I think it was three??) USAAF Boeing B-29’s landed in Soviet territory – which were quickly (well priority) reverse engineered too become the Tu-4 ‘Bull’.
So if the Soviets were able to say – force a B-36 Peacemaker down, in reasonable condition (maybe a few 23mm round wholes!!)
We may just have seen a ‘Tu-5’ (Sovietise B-36)

Don't know how I missed this thread - as Commissar of the Soviet Aircaft SIG, I'd definitely be up for this

There's also quite a lot of inspiration available from real life. The Soviets seriously considered the licence building or reverse engineering (depending on how the original was to be acquired ;D ) of the Martin M-156 Clipper, the Seversky 2PA, the Caudron 713 light fighter, the Mosquito, the Arado Ar-234, the Me-262, the Junkers EF-126, EF-128, EF-131 and EF-132, the DFS-466/468, advanced, post-war versions of the PBY, the Lockheed U-2, the F-86 and the D-21 Drone. They also requested B-17s, B-24s, P-51s and P-38s through lend lease (which were refused) and ordered examples of the Vampire and Meteor (which were refused export licenses).

Also, in 1937 the US Embassy in Moscow reported that the Martin Company was to design and develop a new type of large plane for the Soviet air force instead of selling obsolete models that had been released for export by the American military authorities and the New York Times stated that the Seversky Aircraft Corporation had agreed the licence manufacture of Seversky amphibians in the Soviet Union at the rate of ten per day and that the Soviets had contracted to purchase a large number of Seversky bombing planes of a new type - - - However, I've no idea what actual aircraft, if any, might have been the source of these reports.

More recently, the Soviets have test flown captured F-5 and A-37 aircraft and allegedly (I've not seen any convincing evidence) the F-4, F-14 and Chinook.
So a Soviet B-36 doesn't sound that unreasonable - - -

Sounds like we have enough to make it a reality. The next bit to work out is when and do we wait to be voted on and be official or do we go unofficial.

I wouldn't be able to start on anything until later in the year anyway.

I've got my in the next couple of months, the profiles build, my bird of prey and my su-34 to finish.

I just got hold of a cheap aircraft carrier kit of the Nimitz and I am thinking of making a soviet copy of nimitz class carrier. Circa late 70's early 80's. Before the decline and collapse of the soviet unuion would have prevented something like this even being considered.

It's 1/700 scale the model company escapes me at the mo, only problem is having soviet style aircraft on the deck.

Trumpeter has 1/700 Mig-29Ks, Ka-29, and Su-25 UTGs

At Finescale Modeling they do GBs that last forever, people can keep adding and adding to them. There is an "unofficial" armor forum at arc that has the same thing. If there was ever a subject that deserved a never ending GB for this forum this is it. Lots of Russian/Soviet model fans here. I have so many ideas myself i sat down to write them all and ran out of room on a few sheets.

How about  soviet copy of a Sr-71 blackbird.

Chunkier not as graceful but with 4 honking great engines. You could use two foxbat models with some scratch building........

Oh the voices inside my head just won't shut up. Eddie help stop the voices

Skywave makes sets in 1/700 of Soviet planes in plastic and metal, many of which which I used in an earlier group build to "miniaturize" models other people built and place them on the deck of a Soviet Orel-type carrier I cobbled together out of a Trumpeter Kuznetsov and an Aoshima Kiev. White Ensign Models also has a line of 1/700 aircraft, in resin, and Aoshima make sets of USN, IJN, RN, and Soviet aircraft.

I have a Revell Graf Zeppelin (the carrier) I plan to do as a Soviet version someday.
