You need Mk IX's for the latter.

I have a vague memory that the Mk IX  was a high altitude variant, ideal  I suppose  for  low Earth orbit in the Dr Who episode.

With the recently purchased Art Model Bv 155 kit in hands I had the idea to get another one and make a (fantasy) shipboard fighter from it! The cockpit is relatively high, and without the belly scoop, a slightly shortened fuselage and new/shorter wings this could become a menacing thing?

Maybe something French, late 40ies, Indochina use... The BV 155's lines are very close to the mighty Arsenal VB 10, and actually the Bv 155 once WAS a shipboard fighter design from Messerschmitt! Ah, it got me itching...  :tank:

The "Space Spitfires" had two radiators underneath, which I why I suggested the mk IX.

The VII was dedicated HF due to having pressurization - although some IXs had the HF designation, it referred to the engine not the role even though some IXs DID have the HF tips and were used for high altitude interception.

i am sticking with what i have for the moment but i might try a larger 1/48 or even a 1/32 scale in the future with a later mark and flashing lights for the guns etc,

Aren't they? And France is easily overlooked - despite many bold and even weird designs! I think I'll try that one. I already did some historical legwork for this project, and we might get a contender for the F4U-7 in the early 50ies.

Ah, that's cool.  My plan will see more structural changes, though - but the Bv 155 has some serious potential!  ;)

The Mig 1.44 stealth fighter always looked to me as an ideal project to be Whiffed as a V/STOL aircraft, similar to the Yak-141. I've got a  ZVEDA Mig 1.44 1/72 kit in my stash, along with the Italeri Boeing X-32 JSF and a Revell Yak-38.
The Revell kit could be used on a Phantom F-4, although I haven't seen many low winged V/STOL aircraft.

I've also got a Su-22, my first thought was to combine this kit with a EE Lightning but on second thoughts just use a RAF colour scheme with decals.

As I'll be extending my BAe Nimrod AEW & tanker, with a further stretch. Keeping the nose section from the Airfix Nimrod with the resin random at the rear, the resin TF-33 engines look impressive and I'll add a few of the lumps & bumps from the MRA4. I've found a picture of the Comrod: white fuselage, red cheat line, red wing tips and light grey wings. The rear section is detatchable, which is great as this is a real tail sitter.

Then there is the Shin Meiwa PS-1/US-1A, my first thought was to do a US-2 version but having the wings left over from the Nimrod a Spey powered version seems more likely. This could be built at the same time as I build a C-130 LCC floatplane also with the Nimrod wings and Be-2 hull.

A jet version of the Avro Shackleton using the engines from a RC-135W/V, as I intend to use CFM engines on this build from a Heller C-135R.

I am staying at my parents' house over the crimbo period, so I am away from my stash and tools. However, I have come prepared and will be building a Bandai 1:100 Master Grade kit of the XM-X1 Crossbone Gundam (read: giant robot), as it's a snap-together kit which I can build with just clippers and a scalpel, and I can dismantle it again later to modify and paint it.

Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

A fellow Whiffer has built the Seamaster. I had the same model but have used its' parts on other builds.
The Seamaster looks very like a navalised H.P.Victor with Valiant wings. As I had problems building the Victor, I've now found that Alleycat do a resin air intake for the Valiant in 1/72 scale.
So It won't be a simple case of building the V-Bombers as they will all have different wings, I might just try this idea out in 1/144 scale first before committing to 1/72 scale.

Then there is the VG winged RA-5C. Whiffers advise me to use the F-14 wing on the TSR-2, so I'll try the wing of a F-111A on my Airfix Vigilante.

Having bought the Revel Black London Taxi FX4 in 1/24 scale, I had a few ideas.
I've now seen the Revel 1/25 Volkswagen T3 camper van and thought there is a Whiff here to be had. Revel also do a VW Bus Samba in 1/24 scale. The classic VW would be to gut the Samba and add the T-3 interior. But I tend to look at things sideways so a FX4 camper van with sliding rear doors and extendable roof for a sleeping compartment.
Richard Hammond of TopGear fame, had an idea of The Dampervan and James's Mayflower based Triumph Herald (Airfix 1/43 kit).

I've dug out some of the bits I'll need for a 2 seat 1083 Hunter.  Not sure where the wings have gone though - the set of wings that I did find are with the 1128 Huntsman fuselage and allocated for a supersonic version.

Also looking at some 1081/Sea Hawk two seaters.

A radical re-think of what kits I have in my stash and will I ever complete any builds that I've started.
The Carlton (Shackleton MR3 fuselage and Lockheed C-69 Constellation wings/engines and propellers, metal landing gear) has been converted into a two point tanker.
The stretched Airfix BAe Nimrod AWACS four point tanker, needs sanding and painting.
Another C-69 has been converted into a AWACS 4 x turboprop engines with a new nose from a Canberra EW conversion kit.
New build will include a twin-wing Hurricane and early Spitfire conversions.
Naval Eurofighter Typhoons with conformal fuselage tanks.
RF-15N using a F-15E as a base model.
A Airfix North American RA-5C, EW with pods taken from a Prowler kit. As the Prowler will be a private jet and the tail fin pod will be added to a TA-7 Corsair II.
The wings from a X-32 to be added to a Sea Harrier.
An Airfix C-130 E/H with Nimrod wings and a hull from a Playfix Be-6.
Transall C-160- front loading doors or passenger transport.

Having just seen picture of thte pre-production Kawasaki P-1 maritime patrol aircraft  in the June issue of
Airforces Monthly page 22. I can help but think the Orion P-3 fuselarge and the wing of a Nimrod would make a great alternative . The tail fin could be squared off and the weapons bay of the Nimrod added.
