Lost, forlorn, and otherwise forgotten whiffs of days gone by. Some will be from the old site, others unseen, others never finished.
First off, remember the 'old days' when you used 35mm film ? That's right, we put little canisters of film into our cameras, and that usually gave us up to 24 tries to get a decent pic ! Afterwards, you took said film to be developed. Sometimes you waited hours, even days !
Here's a few prints I found the other day.

A single seat Voodoo fighter. I had envisioned it all camo and such but took the easy way out and painted it like a 104 from Germany in the 70s Air Div days. Hasegawa 72nd scale RF bird.

Matchbox F-104 as an updated CAF bird.

Another Matchbox kit I think. Was supposed to be a wild weasel.

A collection of Arrows from the old shack. Not sure how they all ended up.

An Attack Tutor. Or Tutor Attacker. Why not ?

My old Super Lanc. Another one that was never really finished. Made from the 48th scale Tamiya kit. Used the props from a second kit and the fins are scratch built.

The Sea Whirlwind. Airfix kit with Merlin engines and props from some old P-51B models I had built way back when.

Wow, some awesome stuff there Cap'n! Love the Super Lanc.
-
thats quite the collection there, i see some real gems in there
-
Thanks Nils ! I have a few boxes of half starts and RW builds and such. I want to photograph those as well, for posterity. And then maybe break them down into components for future whifs or sharing etc.
-
Great models Todd
-
Great work. The all-green Voodoo looks cool, as well as the lo-viz Tutor.
And the Sea Whirlwind with the original nacelles is a nice comparison to my conversion with full Mossie engine pods.
-
Winners, every one!
Love that Sea Whirlwind, I've often thought that the ground clearance would be ideal for slinging a torpedo underneath.
-
Love seeing the trip down memory lane Captain.
Makes me want to head into the loft and see whats hiding up there in the `boneyard`.
-
Fantastic stuff Capt.
My fav ? The Sea Whirlwind
-
Hey thanks guys. I appreciate the comments. It is pretty cool to do the 'trip down memory lane' eh ? maybe we will see a few more pop up !

-
I just wish I had even a picture of one of my better models or dioramas. Like the one of the CAR (Cunningham Anderson Restorations) shops where there were old well worn race cars from NASCAR sitting out back stripped down and worn, in the stripping shop being disassembled, the engine and driveline shop, the body and paint shop and the reassembly shop plus some out front ready for their new homes. All in 1:24th scale. All in a three foot by four foot display.
2nd wife got it all from tiny cast pistons and rods to the two hauler trucks.
-
Your really overspending the Canadian armed forces budget. ...........and looks like you have been doing it for a few years now. Watch out for the black helicopters they know where you live. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Good stuff old mate
-
Thanks again guys. I found another Voodoo in the cave it was on the floor for some reason. Cats, kids. Anyway, I'll post a pic tomorrow.
The automdioram sounds pretty wicked ! Too bad it's gone. No pics survived either ?
-
Hey look ! I glued one of the tailplanes on last night. It once had landing gear and a HARM under the fuselage. I hope to fudge the gear doors back on and add the missile, and hang it up in the old room.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/buzzhemply/DSC_0573_zpsso1xtdw5.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/buzzhemply/media/DSC_0573_zpsso1xtdw5.jpg.html)
I find it interesting that I had the same hunter/ killer idea for both the 104 and the 101.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/buzzhemply/DSC_0574_zpsrjhskpkj.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/buzzhemply/media/DSC_0574_zpsrjhskpkj.jpg.html)
-
While we're at it here's a peak at some of the hanging room.

-
I love the Skyray.
Cheers,
Logan
-
Thanks Logan. I had an Aussie Arrow all bombed up to the nines but it fell and broke up
-
Here's my idea for the twin seater. It was always going to be a low-level anti-radar bird, competing against the CF-104 community for supremacy down in the dirt. I did some measurement using the Revell kit with the rotating door, and it seems feasible. A load of four Mavericks in the door, and then a rail with a triple ejector holding the bombs as well as the big Standard or whatever they call it.
Too much ? Not enough ? Just right ?
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/buzzhemply/DSC_0656_zpsfo4lv6dw.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/buzzhemply/media/DSC_0656_zpsfo4lv6dw.jpg.html)
-
I like the Tudor, looks great all bombed up- much like a A-37....
-
Thanks. Still waffling on the Voodoo load out. Might can the mavericks and put a pod up front like she originally had.
-
I've decided to drop the Mavericks. Going with the missile and the bombs.

 that will look better....
Does a "Wild Weasel" become a "Wild Beaver" in RCAF service?
-
Never thought of it....maybe tho !
-
Thank you sir. I have fund a few of the bits from that Sea Whirlwind, so I hope to restore it as well. It will need new landing gear and props/ spinners. Maybe contras from the Shaks.
-
A suggestion, as I have seen that the Voodoo is the Matchbox kit with the retrofitted box camera nose: why not hang a pair of big HOBOS or Paveway GBU under it, making the camera a 2nd generation sensor turret (A.k.a. Pave Moon 2.0?)
-
This is Vietnam Corner.
Is the twin-boom beauty there  a C-119 Flying Boxcar?
-
Close Tophe, but not quite...it's a little more French than that
-
Yessir Stirling X I think. I'd have to go find it again. I have a story I need to write before I post the pics. I've been putting it off and putting it off. I take writing seriously. Too seriously. Every time I start I over think it, think it's goofy, edit, add / delete details and then quit.
Like everything else I should just do it and get over myself.... :banghead:
-
I love the US CF-100 in SEA camo. Someone here did a profile of that I have it saved, picked up the kit and got the replacement interior from Obsureco. Just need the bomb load and then get in a SEA painting mode.

I used to be the same way when writing books. Do it, read it, re-do it, edit, re-write. Then I just wrote it out, editede for spelling and sentence construction then sent it to my test subjects to read. Now I have a small but happy group of readers that are egging me to get the first book published. Working on book two.
-
Nice. Good luck with the publishing !
-
Close Tophe, but not quite...it's a little more French than that
Noratlas? And as the Noratlas is said to be an illegal Packet copy, and the Flying Boxcar is a Packet derivative, all stays in the family. Twin-boom cargos forever... thanks!
-
Good call ! Twin boom transports are nice. Let's hope Airfix does an Argosy for us ! In both 144 and 72nd scales pls :drink:
-
Let's hope Airfix does an Argosy for us ! In both 144 and 72nd scales pls
Yes please! 1/144 might be more manageable...

Check the parts box for a couple of Phantom inner pylons. Attach them in front of the main gear and you'll have a good place for the Mavericks.
-
Sorry Dizzy I just saw your post....a couple of big LGBs would look wicked under a Voodoo !
I will also test fit the Phantom pylons....been looking at somat that would fit up there.
-
great stuff captain!
the Vietnam era CF-100 I do like, especially.
the armament fit on the rebuild CF101 looks lethal!

As alluded to in my regular blog, here's a few pics of my conundrum. I do believe that a large home is conducive to clutter. :banghead: As is borederline ADD and whatever else goes on inside ones head. A busy life with diversified hobbies probably doesn't help....
Here's my little table where I do most of my work. As you can see, stuff everywhere. Kits recently purchased, spares for the GB, never ending Harriers, bits to support the eventual dio and photo shoot....
(http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww226/Axo_Smash/p1_zpsbcoapl6d.jpg) (http://s722.photobucket.com/user/Axo_Smash/media/p1_zpsbcoapl6d.jpg.html)
Turn to the right and through a door and were into the junk side of the basement, utility room / hockey room. Here is my main book shelf, and old curio cabinet and my Grandfather's Hurricane. Plus other assorted junk.

And a look to the left and this is what you see....clutter !

On the floor in front of the book we have a nitro RC car in need of help, as well as a forlorn 500cc 2-stroke v-4 engine. More clutter and junk !

Shelf o' stuff. This is where I was hoping to keep the builds I wanted to keep. Halfway there I guess. It's semi organized and somewhat clean !

Now, if we turn around and head the other way, looking from the curio cabinet we see the hockey room, or Dyte Hall as we call it. The boy does all of his stick drills here, and when it's cleaned up he can have three or four friends and a goalie going at it. I bet a million slapshots have been taken here

It's a pretty well organized kind of clutter. Much more tidy than NORMAL clutter. My own is unspeakable. ;D
-
Thanks for the kind words ! I have been slowly picking away at it. I hope to be purchasing a few of the large Rubbermaid totes this weekend to store and stack things in. That will certainly help !
 :banghead:
-
There must be a hidden compartment somewhere- I did not see shelves and shelves of unbuilt Harriers..... ;)
Nice shop!
-Dave
-
lol thanks. Truth be told there are only about 6 unbuilt 72nd scale Harriers left, and 4 or 5 144th scale, and a single GR.3 in 48th.
-
I can help you out. Just send me the four 1/72 Revell kits (He 177, FW 200, BV P.194 and Ju 290) top left in the second to last photo and you'll have half a shelf freed up immediately... ;D
-
No way ! lol. Those are next years projects, I think I'll steal that Luft '46 in your 46th year idea

2016. Time to clean up. Or at least figure out a way to clean up. Strategy....

There you have it folks....box 1. Always wanted to rebuild or revisit some, and this is the first step. Thanks for looking !
-
Take those two F-18s and make your own X wing F-18.
The worst part with such a large box o' stuff is where to start.
-
Hmmmm...X-wing eh ?
I was hoping to take a pic of each one, and then somehow sort them out afterwards. Still a couple of boxes to go  Already a couple I'd like to fix up, like that B-17.
-
IIRC someone on another site used the front portion of a B-29 in a 50's style spacecraft.
-
Hmm, I've probably seen it but can't recall !

-
I like the look of the PRU blu comet. What's the canopy form?
-
Lots of feedstock for future Whiffs there, those that aren't already Whiffs of course. ;D
-
Thanks guys ! I think it was from a Mustang or an early generation Harrier.
-
Just 2
-
Thanks guys ! I think it was from a Mustang or an early generation Harrier.
Thanks Cap'n. Looks more Harrier than Mustang to me.
-
Ya makes sense. Especially when the old GR.3 in the box is missing it`s front end !
-
Panther's camo Blackbirds got me thinking about my old build, Bluebird and the Pink Lady. One for each of my children.

I can dig.
-
Awesome!
