i just remembered this idea from many years ago, but im surprised not to see a thread about this yet.

as you remember, before the German invasion of Europe in 1940, many countries ordered new equipment to rearm its outdated armed forces. however, most of it never got delivered before they surrendered. so the idea is "what if they did?".
if the German Blitzkrieg could have been holded up until 1941, they could have had theyre hands full fighting Curtis Hawk 75, P-40's, Spitfire MkI, Hurrican Mk.I, P-39's....from various nations and not just those of France and Britain.

this GB could not be limited to planes, but also ships, armour,....

Lots of potential here, and colorful/exotic options, too. I did some whifs that would fit, including several aircraft for the Baltic states, Belgian and French Wildcats, an Polish Hurricane, and some more.

That'll have much potential.  I have ideas of how the RN and USN might have exchanged resources, beyond the Lend-Lease of 50 old destroyers.

I have problems remembering an idea even when trying to take it from one room to another to write it down...

I used to take minutes at high level technical meetings when I worked for the railway.  There would be times when I was told to stop writing.  I'd record that i'd been told to do so and then immediately after the meeting write down everything they said, just in case.

When I first started to attend Steel Industry meetings it was as the note take and I was asked to stop taking notes on a few occasions, only asked to leave the room once  By the time I retired I was the one doing the asking 

I still always carry a small notepad and pen around with me to this day

I always carried a small tape recorder with me when I was with BR.

That was after a couple of occasions when I was hauled over the coals for doing things that my immediate boss had told me to do, and they'd gone wrong.

He, of course, denied all knowledge of telling me, but only on those two occasions.....................

I think that's where the phrase 'Don't mess with Spackman' came from.

I was extremely lucky in all of the head teachers I worked for in all but the last year of my teaching career.   A newly appointed head took a dislike to me (I was later told that it was because I was better qualified than her)  and started taking exception to everything I did.  At one of many one-to-one meetings she told me to stop making notes because "I'll decide what was said at this meeting".  After that I always  had the portable tape recorder in my pocket.   When I played back the tapes to a member of the county council legal department, it changed what was going to be a "competence hearing" on my work into a disciplinary hearing for the head.   I was given early retirement on medical grounds on most advantageous terms, and she was given a final written warning.   I understand that she left teaching 18 months later to set up her own consultancy firm.

And these days you can get racked over the coals for recording conversations when the other party doesn't know -----
