That or some pressure to get the project done!

I took a conscious decision to stop doing that a while ago. Probably only the One Week GB that even comes close to that now.

A very wise decision too.

Got back from Telford Monday pm and wound down yesterday. Great show, good to meet and chat with everybody again especially after a near two year hiatus. Didn't spend to much as I was limited by what I could get in the bag and cart home on the train, but I got everything on the list bar some paint. I'll get them at the London show hopefully.

Already booked the hotel for next year  ;D

Surprisingly I've actually got a little work done on the ongoing projects this week, not much, but at least it's some progress  Normally I spend a couple of weeks getting over Telford and by then we are into the Xmas run-up, but this year  Might be due to the fact I gave myself a couple of extra days to get over the journey, plus I wasn't stressing out over carrying models for display via the vagaries of public transport ?

Anyway I've been musing over what to do with my Dora Wings P-43 and whilst one idea is to do it as a RNZAF in their P-40 style scheme another idea came to me this morning. What about Portuguese AF circa 1942 ? Aircraft given to them by the USAAF (who didn't really want them anyway) as part of the deal which enabled the Allies to use the Azores air bases. In reality they got Hurricanes to replace their Gladiators.

I guess i'm a bit biased but i think that's a really good idea. ;)
I've had thoughts about a P-40 in the same scenario but the P-43 would also fit the bill very well.

Thanks

Been musing a little more and thinking that maybe the RNZAF will get the P-43 and the Portuguese AF a P-35 I have in the stash ? I've found some Portuguese markings in the transfer box so the projects definitely a goer. Mind you I've a few P-36's in the stash looking for a new home as well. Decisions, decisions  ;D

Yup Portugal's an interesting option for late 30's, early 40's types, especially after the Azores agreement. And it is England's oldest ally

Some progress on the Beaufort, mainly to do with getting the canopy finished. It's understandable the way that Airfix have broken it down and parts fit well. However it's delicate work and takes a couple of sittings and unfortunately requires a steadier hand than I currently possess  :-\ Still it's on and some more sub-assemblies have been put together so progress is being made.

Indeed so much progress has been made that an approach was made to the paint shop foreman to enquire as to when he could fit it in ? (I need to change into scruffy trousers for paint work as I've a tendency to wipe brushes on them ) The answer came back that "won't be a quick job Guv as one of the paints required is Xtracolour and you know how long that can take" So hopefully I'll finish it this year, but........ ?

Other progress is detailed in the specific build threads.

No progress I'm afraid, boozy Saturday and Sunday was the London Model Show.

One of the consequences of the slightly longer conversations we were able to have at the show with traders and exhibitors was the discovery that Banstead a place whose pubs I know quite well has a model club and they are having a show in early Feb. So that's the first Saturday in Feb sorted

Interestingly and dependent on where they hold their club meets, I shall check, Banstead is probably doable for me in terms of a club to attend. Good train connections for me. We shall see in Feb.

That'll be the North Surrey Military Model Group. www.nsmmg.org.uk They meet in Hackbridge near the station.

Show is on Saturday 5th Feb 2022 at Banstead Community Hall.

Well with Fokker complete that means the bench now has two models on the go, and both of those are in The Paint shop so to speak. Now whilst I doubt there will be much progress between now and Christmas I'd better start thinking about the next kit box to move onto the bench as I tend to work on three at a time. At the moment it's a toss up between a P-43 and a real world early Spitfire, although I'll probably change my mind completely before I take a kit from the shelves
