Klear (assuming it is the same as Future/One Go) is ammonia based.
So to losen a stuck llid you should just need to turn the jar upside down and drip some windex into the threads so it runs down between the jar and the lid.
Works on paint jars (using thinners) so should work on Klear.


What's Windex? I've never heard of it.

That SERIOUS lid remover was quite pricey Chris, like £14, but worth every penny in my case.
Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It's blue and comes in a trigger spray.
Main ingredients are water, isopropyl alcohol and ammonia.
IIRC Windolene was a UK equivalent (the clear blue one, not the purple cream stuff).

Me too...….you are getting old when you can remember pink Windolene/old English spangles/petrol at less than a pound a GALLON!

A POUND a gallon?  :o

I can distinctly remember getting VERY worried about how we could afford to live when petrol went up above 5/- per gallon!

That's FIVE shillings per gallon, or 25p per 4.54609 litres in today's numbers. And today's prices are nearly 7.5 times as expensive as it was back then in 1967.

I use old white plastic pill bottles from OTC medicines.  Glass/clear containers aren't ideal apparently because UV light will yellow Future (or so I have read).  The mouth of a small aspirin bottle is wide enough to fit my usual wide flat Future brush.  The lid gums up a bit but no real problems opening it, and if I ever do have a problem there are on a few ounces in it so I'm not that upset to just toss it and start another bottle.  Another similar bottle has Windex in it for brush cleanup. 

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Had an interesting one this morning. As I peeled the masking tape from a canopy it removed the Klear coating off in one complete thin film ! Never had it happen before. No damage done and I simply painted the clear parts with Klear afterwards. Odd though

I had an odd situation with some Klear today as well.

I didn't bring a full bottle with me to my 'country home', I decanted some into a small jar (an empty jar of cockles I think.  ;D)

Over the 90% of a year I've been over here (plus my vast modelling output over that period  ;D) I've used a fair amount of it, and there's only about 5-10 mm depth left in the bottom of the jar now.

This morning it was like vegetable soup!  :o

It was so thick I could stand my varnish brush in it and it stayed there, didn't fall over at all! I was about to scrap it out and go and buy some more when it occurred to me that it's water based (apparently...) so I added some water to it, quite a lot actually, and BINGO! Success! It returned to its normal constistency, and I used it with no further problems.

Presumably the high air/Klear ratio had evaporated whatever it is in there that evaporates, but it's OK now. I'll still get some more anyway.

Oddly this Klear was from a smaller container which I'd decanted it into and it was getting low.
