Yes indeed, XMO412H was at Syon Park before it moved to Gaydon, and it's still there now. I took loads of pics of it before I started the build, and once it's finished I'm going to take the model back there and photograph it sitting on the bonnet of its big brother.  ;D

Volvo surely did enter the 850 Estate in the BTCC, originally because that body shape gave a slight aerodynamic advantage, but missed out on bodyshell stiffness, as do all estates. I ran an 850 Estate back then, but a non-turbo one, and I have one now too, wonderful cars.

Sadly the Koach doesn't have a big tailgate for 3 x Minis in the back, but I know a guy in the slot racing world who's built one just like tbat, and he runs the Minis in and out of it on the track too.  :o

Mine has an opening luggage door in the bottom half, and on its inaugural run at the Leicester 1 track, notable for a 5 lane, banked 180 degree turn at the end of the main straight, I had a parachute hidden inside.  ;D

I'd fixed up the motor so that it opened the door when I braked hard and at the end of the long straight the 'chute duly popped out as required and totally zonked the competition!  ;) ;)

Is that based on the Dinky toys Bedford Vega Major coach?
the one where if you pressed down on the left or right side of the coach the wheels would start to steer and the side indicator used to flash?
One of my favourite toys as a kid ;D
mind if it is based on the above Coach, even just using the top, it will have had some real 'heft' and no doubt a bit of momentum when it got going :o

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

No Keith, it's quite big larger than the Dinky Vega Major.

It was a push-and-go toy that just happened to be the right size, and I removed all the push=-and-go bits of course, but all the seats are still in there. The driver's from the Airfix 'Old Bill' bus, and he's got his arm out the window as he's continuously overtaking.  ;D

Well XMO made it to the Stages Rally Event y'day, but without its grille mounted spotlights. :(

Bizarrely the resin copies I produced worked fine mounted at the base of the windscreen, but the grille mounted foursome just would NOT stay glued in place as their gluing area was far too small. After the third attempt I gave up and I'll solve the problem later.

At the event I came a resounding LAST, out of an entry of 60 or so, as XMO just would not stay upright on the bends, the CG being miles too high thanks to the roof mounted detail, the thick and heavy window glass and the basic thickness of the Airfix shell. I'll make some attempt to sort that problem as time goes on but XMO will never be the fastest car on the track.

On the positive side, I was awarded the 'Spirit of the Rally' award because I was the first entry after it was announced, my stated intent to build XMO specifically for the event, and for actually carrying that out. I was embarrassed and very pleased, all at once.  ;D

Well done Kit.
