The Soviets unsuccessfully tried ramjet pods on the BI-1 rocket fighter. I bought the Eastern Express BI-1, but I didn't want to use the pods on it. I bought a cheap $3.00 Yak.15 and went to work. The Soviets actually tested pulse-jets on a piston-engine Yak.7, so I didn't think I was too far off from a logical premise with this build.

I clipped the wingtips and added auxiliary main and tail-wheel doors. I grafted on the wingtip ramjet pods. All else is OOB for the Yak.

I had some Xtracrylix RLM 80 & 65 on the bench. It was close enough for the paint-job.

I used the kit's Soviet stars and got the tactical number from my scrap-box.

I used bare metal Foil Polished Chrome for the ramjet pods, as I thought it would look good as factory fresh high temperature resistant alloy. It really pops against the camouflage paint.
I am very happy with my results.
