Ok with all the F-18s that have made an appearance here i had an idea and thanks to Scotaidh  i have one ...so all i had to do was come up with an idea for it .
Now i have no idea if this idea has been built before as i was being lazy and just went for it .
I cant think of a back story for this but ill come up with something once the brain farts stop and things begin to flow again ..so here is my build .
The F-18 SWP ...Swing Wing Prototype .
The first part of this build looked pretty good and once it started i got to the nose and came to a total halt.

Yup thats the nose ...this kit my say Revell or Monogram ,,dont remember which but i know for sure it was molded in china and the quality checking was crap ,,so the brain goes to work and my Italeri  Mig 23 came with 2 noses ,,,well its only got one now ,,,since this was a simple build i didnt take any real build pics which i know for me is strange as i normally overload my posts with pics ,,,so here it is lads in all its glory ..

As this is just the first prototype  it was not built with any mountings for stores on the wings as this is a cheaper proof of concept aricraft ..built as a cheaper replacement for the F-18 Super Hornet instead of designing a entirely new plane .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

wow, when i saw the short shot i winced,  but the finished product is top class
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.
wow, its like freefalling into the Geofront

Cheers Penguin mate  ;D
Now I've got a wee bit more time I can go into a little bit more detail.
The wings are or where Mig23 ..widened by 12mms because they were far to narrow .
The exhausts are just sheet styrene.
The bad molding didn't just stop at the entire nose but also the wind screen with its lower edge being curved where it shouldn't be and a couple of the missiles were out of wack with the fins being half sized to the rest and the main body was not round but more egg shaped..rubbish binned those .
Everything else  is OTB .

That does look cool  in an 70s or 80s artists impression of an advanced fighter proposal kind of way.
Whatever.

You have four slammers and two sidewinders which is a better load out than many other types! No worries there. Actually the swiveling pylons on the F-111 wings were a PITA which is why you don't see them on a Tomcat or a Bone. You're looking great right as it is. Great job making a silk purse out a a sow's butt!

Love it. Are the horizontal stabs standard F-18?

Zero-Sen

This also works with a F-18 + 'Tonka wings' combination.

Captain Canada

Now that is a neat looking machine ! Nice work

Interesting design you have there. It's going into the "to do" file.

Thanks heaps guys  ;D ..didn't turn out to bad for a week and a halfs work .

Mexchiwa mate apart from the wings..nose and arse end its all stock F18..oh and 2 missiles.   <_<
This was built with as few other kit parts as possible cause I've got very little modern jet aircraft kits..heaps of WW2 aircraft now ..well for me it's heaps..compared to other blokes on here my stash would fit on one of their shelves  ..or shelf  ;)

That's come out really, really well mate
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

😁😁 Thanks again chaps ..
Thunder mate I like where your going with that design and that is one ill stick into my future ideas bank
Now I do have a spare set of F18 wings without a home and a Mig23 with no wings..hmmm?

Well this clearly shows this swing idea has been around awhile now but I'm not upset at all...im not one to get annoyed cause someone else thought of it first..I chuffed that I was able to build it but Zeros wing mech looks for better than mine

Sometimes there is a reason a kit is cheap...

But hey, the finished build is great.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
