OK, here we are with another kit bash of the venerable F4U corsair and the F-86 Sabre.

Backstory is, the Korean War is raging and the US Marine Corps insists on a radical update to their beloved Corsair airframe, instead of adopting an unproven jet.

This is going to be a mashup of a Revell F4U and a Hasegawa F-86, in 1/32 scale.

Pics to follow...

An F-86 with gull wings?
Sounds like something Tophe or ericr would dream up! Carry on!

A F86 with gull wings or a F4U with F86 wings and tail ... <_<
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Tophe

Yes, very interesting, we will see what it is...

OK, here we go finally getting around to posting some pictures.

First off, here is the inspiration for this build:

Here's the start:

I was even able to fit the original engine and exhaust faces, into the Corsair's frame. It's TIGHT, but they fit!

Cats are not real.
They are just physical manifestations of collisions between enigma & conundrum particles.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Tophe

the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.
wow, its like freefalling into the Geofront

Scotaidh

I like it.  It really fits.

My only quibble is the wings ... to my mind they need to be swept and thinner, but I have no idea how to do that and still make it look good - which yours does, so ... Well done!  :)

What I don't like is that I didn't think of it ... I'm so jealous!
