I was recently gifted the well-known Airfix Hunter F.6 with another purchase, and have been wondering what to do with it. Today it was decided: painted all over in British racing green, and putting on a display to open the 1954 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. This one's for you, Mike. Shouldn't take long, he says optimistically.

Great choice. I have a couple of these in the stash. Although the Revell kit has more detail, I am strangely drawn to the older kit. I have several old Air Conversion T.7 sets designed for this classic.

A long lost classic, that one. I built a T7 from that conversion maybe 40 yrs ago and it still looks good by today's standards.

And I still have an un-used conversion to hand too, and no, it's NOT for sale!

The Wooksta!

They occasionally pop up on eBay.

The F6 is okay but the fit of the gun pack is poor.  I much prefer the FGA9 retool.

I've had fun with this kit a few times before, starting when I was about 12!

Major assemblies are together. I have no idea why Airfix, and some other manufacturers, require that the nosewheel be installed before closing up the fuselage. It just invites a breakoff. Oh well, move delicately from here on in...

Too true, that just shows lack of thought about the model is actually built.

When Revell bought out their 1/144 scale 767 that was the same, and with a fuselage over a foot long that teeny weeny nosewheel leg was just BOUND to break, so I devised a way to glue it in later. At the next Telford I suggested that they do future kits that way, but the Revell guy was dismissive, and got out a 767 kit to show me 'how it was done'.

Then he broke the nose wheel leg off..............  ;D ;)

She's almost ready for prime time. One of the landing gear legs went a bit wonky on assembly, so I'm letting the glue set well before any photos.
