1938 Delahaye 135

Delahaye 135 - 2 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr

A very mildly customised example of a French classic.

Delahaye 135 - 12 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr

Rear wheel arches filled and smoothed, and bodywork behind the front wheel arches smoothed.  Wider and slightly smaller diameter wheels.

Single choke side draft carbies replaced with triple Webers on a scratchbuilt manifold.

The Model.

Delahaye 135 - 16 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr

Heller 1/24 Delahaye 135.
Fujimi Borrani wires.  Moulded plastic with rubber tyres.  Chromed.  Three parts each plus centre cap.
Resin twin choke side draft Weber carburettors from www.thepartsbox.
Body painted and cleared with Tamiya TS Rattle cans.

The Delahaye is a "challenging" kit to build.  Fragile, delicate parts, vague instructions, and even vaguer  fit of the front half of the bodywork.  Now i've built one i'd love to build another lowered right down into the weeds with enclosed front and rear wheels.  Something ike this.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Gorgeous

Just needs the Hollywood actress to complete the scene.

I've just looked it up on Google. If you've got $6.6 million or so to spend you can buy a real one  ;D

That's just got to be a Pebble Beach shot, yes?

I think your semi-stock one looks better actually, very much a Maigret car if he ever got to be a Commissioner.  ;)

Thanks folks.
Mr Blonde there is one of a number of 1/24 40's or 50's styled figures I picked up from an art shop a while back.  IIRC there are a couple of ladies.  I'll have to dig one out and paint her up.

Indeed. I must admit I have a liking for the whole style of the era. Providing of course you were born into money, unlike mum and dad who were born into a mining family and dustman's family respectively.

One needs to be of a certain age to appreciate that. Unfortunately I am  ;D
