That climb out was very reminiscent of Lightnings doing the same, but back in the 60s!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Nah, the Frightenings would have gone vertical at the end of the runway....

Nah, the Frightenings would have gone vertical at the end of the runway....

Indeed!  As a very much younger Rheged, in 1961 I think, I can remember watching the Lightnings taking off from Leuchars, while I was in holiday in that area.

A long long time ago at a Leuchars air day I recall Seeing a four-ship of FG.1 Phantoms deafening the population of Fife in a vertical climb off the runway!

He didn't get the 90 degree vertical turn right, did he?  ;D

I watched 74 Sqdn do their thing at Coltishall in Sept 1965 with their Lightning Mk 1s. The entire squadron did a stream take-off, climbing vertically above Norfolk. I didn't think anyone on the ground could hear properly for about an hour!  :o
