I've started work on a Handley Page HP.111: the airliner based on the Victor.

I've got a high-res version of the 3-view (as can be found in 'On Atlas' shoulders'), courtesy of Chris Gibson. I'm building in 1/144 scale, using the Great Wall Hobby kit of the Victor for the wings, tailplanes and undercarriage. The fuselage will be scratchbuilt, as there's no airliner that comes close in size: the HP.111 fuselage is midway between narrowbodies and widebodies.

This is the first plastic being cut: a 40mm PVC rod that will become the fuselage center section.

I've always liked the V-bomber based airliners, this'll be good.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

should be fixed now.

The 15'-0" diameter fuselage on the HP.111 is something I always thought that Avro should have gone with for their Atlantic project. They wouldn't have had a main spar sticking out into the cabin if they had done.  I'm going to build something along those lines in the future.

If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Progress: I've made drawings for the front and rear sections of the fuselage. These are side and top views, plus a bunch of cross-sections. As I've done before, these will form a skeleton that I can fill in with scrap styrene and putty.

I sent this out to be laser-cut in styrene, and this is the result.

This sheet is about A3-sized, and contains parts for the HP.111 and for an Ariane 5 launch tower.
