I plan to draw (as profiles) the late-1945 race versions of the OV-10 Bronco whose first flight occurred in 1965 (the first Reno race happening in 1964). They were using piston engine on a single seater, either 2 lateral engines or one double-engine in pusher position.

Very interesting!
I love the way you think!

Thanks a lot!

Before showing the race single-seaters, let me show you the two-seat ancestors of the Bronco, since 1945 (according to secret archives in Mymind City):

And here is the transition to the racers, both:

Thanks!

Finding a reliable 24-cylinder inline engine being unsure, the design considered of course also the use of tandem V12 engines:

There is always the possibility of radials on the wings..........
Just a thought.

Thanks! This will be done, probably next week.
I already made the engines bigger, on Race Egg versions (200% vertical):

On the opposite, the Race Final versions were more slim, 50% vertical, for speed...

I like this. I think that there is definite mileage in a racing bronco :)

Thinner aerofoils and (more) clipped wings?

As far as clipping is concerned, all you need to do is return the design to its original wingspan.

I had to have a lie down after looking at that drawing..............  :-\
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I have the old chrome plated Hawk 1/48th scale kit in the stash with the short wings. Still in the plastic wrap as I recall. Some 1/48th radial engines?.......hmmmmm
