Rick's not on-line just now so I hope he'll forgive me if I answer your question.

'10 thou' refers to thin styrene sheet 10 thousandths of an inch thick, generally the thinnest practical thickness in the Imperial system, 5 thou is so fragile it's almost unusable! The equivalent in Metric thickness would be 0.25 mm stuff.

The 'chord wise scores' means lightly scoring the inner side of a piece of suitably shaped '10 thou' to form rib marks on the other side, and these run fore and aft on the wing surface at suitable intervals to look like ribs.
That makes sense.  It could be used to make 1/25 car panels with stamped relief.
Would you score it gently with a sharp point of hard with something blunter?

Blunter works better as otherwise you run the risk of the styrene splitting along the grooves, specially as it's so thin.
Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Thanks Kit.  I will try this out on the Stoopid Taxi.  I'm scratchbuilding the firewall structure ATM.

Ahhh... now that makes more sense. Thanks for the translation.
Thanks!

Thanks Mr Kit
And sorry for the confusion, folks. I should have given a more detailed explanation... you never know how deep to go when explaining things, as some get annoyed if you're telling them something they already know...

Anyhoo, hope this is of some interest/use.   ;)

Less likely here than on some forums where default mode seems to be stroppy arrogance.

Dead right there, I left one forum where one modeller asked another if he'd explain what method he'd used for one particular finish and the reply was 'No!'.  :banghead:

One of the things that really attracted me to this forum was the way that members treat each other as ladies or gentlemen and not  as either stroppy teenagers or crabbit old codgers. I'm sure I've asked a fair  few daft questions in my time here and always been treated with  courtesy (and usually a great deal of helpful erudition)  On that basis....Thank you everyone!

Great work Strobez!  I have been itching to do the exact same thing for a loong time.  I have been hording paper model PDF's for years now.  I just purchased a Modelik HMS Iron Duke kit and am going to do a complete styrene conversion.  Thanks for the photos and tips!  I will echo some of the others and say that this is the most positive, helpful and genuine forum and group I have encountered.

I agree with all the above; it's nice to be somewhere that no-one feels the need to make negative or snarky comments - if we don't have anything to say, we simply move on.
I've been elsewhere and seen too many negative comments simply for something to say, or to air an opinion.

And let's face it, anywhere that folk don't tell me where to go with extreme prejudice, has to be a winner IMHO!!  ;D

... or just can't be arsed.  ;)

I'm just too gob-smacked by what others here produce - seriously high levels of skill, thought, and imagination are displayed here everyday in every genre.  I think that's awesome.

Coming along very nicely. The 10 thou skin method with the ribs impressed from the rear works. I usually use a blunt pencil and lay the card on a pile of paper to allow the rib to form without damage. I also think scratch building is a rite of passage in modelling. Once you've cracked it you start to look at all sorts of former impossibilities from a different viewpoint.
