The Big Gimper

I started this build on May 15th which marked the anniversary of the first flight of Britain's first jet aircraft, the Gloster-Whittle E.28/39.

It is Eastern Express/Frog mold. All flying surfaces are from an Airfix P-80C. Kelly Johnston had a role in this. Recce pod is a modified drop tank.

I've started painting it. Using the Canberra PR.3 scheme. Underside will be PRU Blue. Upper is grey but I cannot determine which shade/tint.  Any ideas?

Erm, it tells you on the drawing, Medium Sea Grey.

It's not a generic colour, it's one of the RAF's standards and I know that Humbrol do it, and I suspect many others do too.

LOVE the model BTW.

Ah, should of realised really, considering the number of times I've considered the other half's dress/skirt/blouse to be one colour only to be told it's something completely different

This flying bathtub is done. I used the postwar PRU paint scheme as I already have too many all PRU blue builds.

The canopy supports are thicker as the Peregrine was pressurized (and I could not get my hand steady enough to get a thin line).

That's very classy, and the P-80 surfaces go very well with the E28/39 fuselage too.
