South Cheshire Military Modelling Club are putting on their annual show again on 25th Feb 2018: https://www.scmmc.co.uk/

This is the show that used to be in Crewe, but moved to Nantwich last year. The new venue is very good.

OGL can't attend this one due to work, so I've volunteered to run a SIG stand (booking now confirmed). Therefore please let me know if you're coming, so I've some idea how much interest there is and how many models people are likely to bring. Thanks in advance.

Darn it, I wish I'd known earlier as I could have done this one. The previous Crew shows have been very good.

How is it that, with all the good intentions and planning in the world, I still end up doing things at the last minute at midnight on the night before a show? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Anyway, I shall be at the Nantwich show all day tomorrow, representing the SiG, so if you're thinking about dropping in, please do - it's a really good show and I get the hint from the exhibitor instructions that they've got more space than last year.

Okay, well that went well.

I decided to give the M6 a miss and went cross-country, so I had lovely drive through Cheshire both ways, with only a little 'locational inexactitude' experienced on the outskirts of Nantwich. Being there in time for setup this year made life much easier: last year I came in as a punter, and that involves negotiating a bewildering maze of buildings and roadways which leave you a long way from the entrance, which is not ideal for carrying stuff in. This year I got to park right outside the fire door to Hall 1, which was much more convenient.

Here's the SiG stand set up. I havn't got anything like OGL's fancy perspex display stand, but since it was only me and my models there I had to spread them out quite a bit to fill the space anyway, so that wasn't really a problem. I've also realised that a cheap 'display stand' that other people use, namely those black plastic garage shelves suitably rearranged, would be particularly suitable for my black cloths, so I may add one of those to my kit.

Aaaand here's what was right across the walkway from me: Collectakit....  Oh lead us not into temptation... (Yeah, right! )

It's a good venue, with three halls, more displays in the entrance lobby and a decent cafeteria:

They will let any riff-raff in though:

I'd seen pics of this T-34 in London, but I didn't know the story behind it until today:

Some nice themed models there on display, completely missed the posts on the show as I knew OGL was working and didn't think it was on. However with the move away from Crewe coupled with the fact Cheshire decided to smart motorway its entire section of the M-6 its just that bit too much hassle these days.
Yes having Pat in close proximity with Collectakit really is a bad temptation  :banghead:

That looks a great venue H, and you put on a splendid one man show there.

It's got to be said that Whiffing is alive and well in Cheshire, a splendid collection of our art on show.

Rheged

Thanks for the show report and especially the pictures.   All at chateau Rheged are much amused by the blue T34  "septic" tank.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Thanks for your kind words folks!

Here's the real Septic Tank in that approximate colour scheme. It's been repainted many times, perhaps the most well known pic being when it was pink and had a bunch of pink-clad young ladies sat on it.

Personally I think someone should sneak it and repaint it with cammo, a shark's mouth and 'Kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out!" style slogans, just to pish off the hippies....

I never went on a single bit of the M6. At that time in the morning on a Sunday, the A-roads are so quiet that it's almost as quick. Google maps rated it at 51 mins by motorway, 1 hour 30-odd by A-road. I did it in 1 hour 15 mins, and that included at least 10 mins of getting lost. From where you are, I might be tempted to drive straight into Manchester and out again on the A556 (or go round the M60 and pick it up at Sale), follow it to Northwich, then head south on the A533.

Looks like a good show. Great photo's H, cheers
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
