Saw this on Twitter but then couldn't find it again, so I had to go web-searching. This sort of thing would make an interesting non-military whiff: use railway scenics parts to kit out an ex-military vehicle of any kind:

This one wasn't a whiff though: somebody actually did it:

The magazine on Google Books:

Use the pulldown to go to page 102, or scroll to contents page.
Story continues on page 148.

It's on floats as well and so is acceptable for the current GB.

Wouldn't the one on the magazine cover have an engine in the kitchen?

The magazine is fascinating.  Cigarette ads!  I remember them.  I particularly like the Camel one on page 9.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

They have a bunch of 1:1 scale ones at the Helicopter Museum at Weston-Super-Mare too.  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It could offer the unique experience of falling asleep drunk in it outside the pub, then having your wife fly it to the nearest lake and leaving you to find out the hard way that there's water outside the front door when you stagger out for a pee.

Still, at least it'll put your fag out.... ;)

Imagine what you can do with a Hook or a Halo !!! they would be like a Winnebago's compared to a VW tourer  S-55 or S-58

Somewhere in Scotland there's a Sea King as a "camping pod"

Wasn't there a Hook variant that was fitted out as a headquarters, complete with folding tent extension?

Alternatively, imagine what you could do with a Skycrane or a Mil-10: drop s luxury 'caravan' off then take the helo off for fuel and unobtrusive parking. Then when all the winnebago and caravan owners are grimly contemplating the drive home down twisty roads with a line of hacked-off car drivers behind them, you fly in, pick up the 'van and sail off home over their heads....

Slightly off topic: here and there, there's people who have turned An-2 biplanes into campers. One article calls it a Windebago: http://www.spokesman.com/stories/1995/feb/04/wingebago-12-passenger-biplane-not-something-you/

I guess they're not worried about the 'no open flames within 100 feet' rule    ;D

Then there's also this 727 mounted on a bus chassis:
